I don't know how I did it but I missed the last two posts. The first part was great--Jaina looking inward, being practical and rational and trying to find a solution that was based on acknowledging what she had done. I loved the description of how she and Jacen were different and how he lived on in her heart.

I loved that question that she had to ask herself--

In the second part the analogy was great--especially the imagery of the metal and the reshaping of something broken (her and jag's relationship? her soul?) and remaking the connection.

    Beautiful!

Edit: I missed the last 3 posts. I loved the Cem and Jag fight it was really nice how you've woven the sibling relationship here--like my own family they know and understand the best and worst of each other.

What was up with that vision of Jag's though?

    Whew, the tension was palpable...

I loved Cem giving Jag a beating, literally....then Wyn tearing into him, figuratively.

And Wyn breaking up the fight with the ear grip, [face_laugh] awesome.

And Jag not wanting the hear the line about resembling his father...

    Great scene, I loved it.

I think those "fancy manuevers", if at all what I'm thinking of... will be VERY enjoyable :D ....

Was that gang up on Jag day? Very pleased to see you are not having things move along too fast... very realistic!

For all of Jag's attributes, thinking things through isn't always a priority with him. Glad to see that his siblings are keeping his feet planted on the ground.

Lovely, subtle writing here. But why should I be surprised? =D=

I felt bad for poor Jag, getting beat up by everyone, followed by whatever bombshell just got dropped in the GA. Plus what the heck is up with Soontir?

As always, I'm really enjoying this.

I love sibling banter especially when the younger sister wins! great post, I'm curious how Jaina is going to take the news about the Jedi.

    Great post.
Sorry I'm late. I could not use my computer were I was. I like that Cem can still be funny when he is fighting his brother.[face_laugh]. I hope that the Moffs don't have something too bad for the Jedi!

    Good afternoon!

It?s post day but I have to reply first :D

Jag4Me: First, nice colors :D Congrats on the Forum Feud win =D=
It's so funny that Wyn is listing all this and it includes "flown the Millennium Falcon".
Wouldn?t that be the coolest thing ever?

Solo_and_Fel: Poor Jag is getting the smackdown from all the Fels.
And he?s not through with all of them :p

Voz: When it rains it pours. You can't just have issues with the woman you love, you have to deal with the emotional baggage of your entire family.
Yes, exactly. Jag?s hard on himself but that doesn?t always work. Too, he?s just realizing how much like his father he is?

That's what I love about your writing - it's realistic without getting out of SW character.
    Oh, thanks :D

Just because Jaina and Jag decided not to ignore the past doesn't mean they're ready to try the aisle. You're realistic about what it's going to take to heal this relationship.
Um?we?ll talk about this one in a couple posts :p

Sticks: That was a delightful read.
    Thank you :)

Jag's having a very interesting vision there.
A vision of the future maybe?

jade51999: The first part was great--Jaina looking inward, being practical and rational and trying to find a solution that was based on acknowledging what she had done.
Who knew she had it in her?

In the second part the analogy was great--especially the imagery of the metal and the reshaping of something broken (her and jag's relationship? her soul?) and remaking the connection.
Remaking a lot of things. Herself most importantly, but yes her relationship is part of that.

I loved the Cem and Jag fight it was really nice how you've woven the sibling relationship here--like my own family they know and understand the best and worst of each other.
That knowledge can be good and bad but it makes family special.

What was up with that vision of Jag's though?
    Not telling?

Jedimaster_JainaSolo: Whew, the tension was palpable...
    Oooo, love to hear that!

I loved Cem giving Jag a beating, literally....then Wyn tearing into him, figuratively.
Nothing like sparring with a brother to take out some aggression [face_mischief]

And Wyn breaking up the fight with the ear grip, awesome.
That part just cracked me up! Wyn getting the upper hand on the boys [face_dancing]

JAGSGURL15: I think those "fancy manuevers", if at all what I'm thinking of... will be VERY enjoyable ....
    Whatare you thinking? [face_thinking]

Was that gang up on Jag day?
    Yes, it was [face_beat_up]

Scrubs: For all of Jag's attributes, thinking things through isn't always a priority with him. Glad to see that his siblings are keeping his feet planted on the ground.
If you can?t trust family to straighten you out then who?

    Lovely, subtle writing here.
Subtle with the not-so-subtle Cem and Wyn. Priceless.

But I know what you mean, and thanks [:D]

carr3107: I felt bad for poor Jag, getting beat up by everyone, followed by whatever bombshell just got dropped in the GA.
Ah, more on the GA in this post.

Plus what the heck is up with Soontir?
    No good usually ;)

TheOnlyJediPrincess: I'm curious how Jaina is going to take the news about the Jedi.
    That?s today :D

    Jainasolo101: Sorry I'm late.
Hey no worries. I?ve been late with posts before?
I like that Cem can still be funny when he is fighting his brother.
Actually Cem is quite a ham. Well that?s how I see Jag?s younger brother. Hopefully canon will reveal more

I hope that the Moffs don't have something too bad for the Jedi!
    It?s Moffs and Jedi!

Jaina_and_Jag: I just loved all the sibling interactions.
Glad everyone had fun with that.

Thanks again for all the great replies [:D]

Jaina. He needed to see Jaina.

He jogged out of the workout room and down the access corridor to the sheltered hangar, where the terrestrial craft were housed. He arrived just as his mother and Jaina burst into the house, giggling about some Chiss youngling who apparently had developed a crush on Jaina.

The pair hesitated just inside the threshold, then greeted him in unison. ?Jag.?

He stepped forward to hug Jaina. ?I missed you,? he whispered into her ear.

She shared the same sentiment silently, tightening her arms around his waist. When he finally moved away, Jag noticed his mother waiting patiently. He pecked a quick greeting on her cheek. ?Mom.?

Syal grinned, then turned and held out her arm. ?I missed you, too.?

Like he had been taught as a young man, Jag assisted his mother in removing her heavy coat. Jaina moved to shed her own, but Syal cleared her throat discreetly and Jaina stopped. By the time Jag had hung his mother?s coat in the closet and turned to help Jaina, though, his father had entered the room. With the grace of a gentleman, Soontir was sliding Jaina?s coat down her arms.

?Thank you, Soontir.? The name didn?t roll naturally off Jaina?s tongue.

Jag simply stared at them both. Fortunately his mother interrupted the awkward silence. ?You should tell Jag about our important discovery, Jaina.?

Training his focus on Jaina alone, Jag compelled his mind to listen to her words and not the thoughts buzzing around his head.

?One of the junior cadets is Force sensitive.?

    Jag blinked. ?Really??

    ?A Chiss Jedi,? Syal said.

    ?Not a Jedi,? Soontir corrected.

Jaina nodded. ?No, that would require some training. He?s certainly got innate abilities, but no skill to speak of.?

?So, what did you suggest?? Jag asked, truly curious. ?Send him to your uncle?? A Jedi among them certainly might improve the Chiss mentality toward the Order.

?Actually, no.? Jaina?s brow furrowed. ?I think the structure at the conservatory better suits the boy?s needs at this time. The Academy is still in disarray??

Jag didn?t hear the rest. His heart pounded so loud he couldn?t. Why, he wasn?t sure. Things were just? shifting. Up was down. Jaina zigged when she usually would have zagged. And she didn?t even have the benefit of the information Wyn had just provided: now that Daala had proposed drastic cuts to the Jedi operational budget, the Academy would surely be in further disarray. War always kept funds flowing to those willing to risk their lives on the front lines, but once peace seemed real it was easy for politicians to maneuver expenditures away from the very warriors who had ensured their power. Except Daala was no ordinary politician; she had the tactical genius of a soldier who had survived the front lines by the thinnest of margins for decades.

?Jag,? Jaina was saying, ?did you hear me??

He met her brown-eyed gaze. ?I?m sorry. I was simply considering the implications.?

Jaina looked right at his mother. ?Like I said, he must be in shock.?

Syal curled her lips into a playful pout. ?And I always thought he enjoyed those dance lessons.?

?Wait.? Jag looked at his mother too. ?What??

Soontir chortled. ?Not likely. Jag?s always been the son who did what he was supposed to do, whether he enjoyed it or not.?

The two men locked stares. Neither blinked. Syal drifted between them. ?Allow me my delusions, dear. I prefer to think he rather enjoyed our time together.? She caught Soontir by the arm. ?Come along now. Feed me; I?m quite famished.?

    ?As you wish.?

Now Jag and Jaina were alone. ?I will get cleaned up quickly,? he said. ?Then I?m all yours.?

?You?re all mine already.? She snaked her fingers through his. ?Come on, flyboy. You don?t have to be clean to show me your moves.?

Jag resisted her pull. ?Uh? I have a confession.?

?You didn?t hear a word I said. I know.? Jaina pivoted back around to face him. ?Executive summary ? you and I have to polish off our dancing skills.?

?Jaina, I haven?t danced with anyone si

    I got first!

And we are off again at lightspeed!

I am glad someone finally acknowledged that Jaina -- selfish, neurotic, damaged Jaina -- spent years being a good little Jedi while Jacen was out doing whatever it was that Jacen did. And that she acknowledges it enough to know she's going to have to deal with it.

I also see the foundation you're laying for the Imperial Knights.

Poor Jaggie!! :( It's terrible that his first thought is that she's going to leave him. Stupid profic never should have brought them to this. TUF should have seent them married. But I guess I'm beating a dead dog with this, aren't I?

Great foreshadowing here for the setup of the Imperial Knights. It just fits right in.

8-} I'm going to have to give serious thought as to which character is more confused at this point. (Oh, wait! Maybe that's me...) This Jaina feels so unfamiliar because she is rarely (if ever) written with any true maturity. Her initial reluctance to go to Csilla has certainly turned into acceptance of her role as Syal's protegé, among other things. Much as I want J/J to be together, these two seem to be locked onto unusual coordinates. Naturally, that is what brings me back looking for your updates every week. :p

Really enjoyed the symbolism of Jaina tossing her lightsaber onto the ice flow. That represents a great deal in terms of her recovery. Jaina tossed a nice shot of truth at Jag, too: that everyone is "trying" except him. Poor guy's been taking it on the chin lately but it's true that he needs to leave the past behind as much--or more--than Jaina.

    Well done! =D=

EDIT: In the light of morning I'm wishing I could give you a Force-smack on the back of your head, TKL. I was never an ABBA fan, but now I can't get a few of those songs out of my head! [face_hypnotized] :p

Wow, very introspective. Very profound. I love the way that they both have so many emotions, so many thoughts that they can't even pick them all out. They can identify certain issues, but others they know that something is wrong, but can't point it out. Its so real.

I love Jaina's determination, and her desire to just be at Jag's side. And the dance was so lovely. Wonderful update!

    Oh no! Not Kyp!

It's sort of weird but also about time that Jaina did something for herself. I like her staying with Jag and not just for romantic implications... it just seems like a lot safer of place to be than anywhere else. Plus the New New New Republic or whatever its calling itself these days seems like a sort of scary place.

ABBA, eh? Is it Gimme Gimme Gimme a Man After Midnight ABBA? :p

The applause emoticon doesn't cut it for this one. Too good. Your understanding of these characters and deft handling of their emotional predicament is nothing short of inspiring. Reading that post gave me all the warm fuzzies I associate with mush, but with the added value of actual content.

Wow there are a lot of emotions there! I loved how they danced to silence, I'm a sucker for romance. I think Jaina took the news pritty well, but part of me feels like there is someting she is avoiding. I'm a little worried about her. Maybe I'm just imagining it.

Could it be Syal's influence or is it she's becoming more like Leia? :D Either way, I certainly like it and she will
be the perfect First Lady of the Empire.

    Silly beta fell behind a post again. [face_not_talking] [face_shame_on_you] [face_talk_hand] :_|

    Two thuds proclaimed the near-misses.
I really like the aural cue here. It makes the sparring match seem more real ? not always visuals but other senses too. :D

?Not slower.? He wiped the sweat from his brow. ?Just testing your skills. You are, after all, in charge of my protection detail.?
    I think somebody?s in denial. :p

?You are going to marry her soon, aren?t you??
    [face_laugh] Points for candor.

    Unbidden, an image exploded
[face_thinking] Hanging around a Jedi too much? Now he?s getting flashes of visions on his own? [face_worried] Then again, Jag?s been dreaming about Jaina since before Dark Tide, according to you. ;)

?I?m just tired. Jaina didn?t sleep well.?
    And he knows better than to throw her out of the bed. Good man. [face_love] Somehow I?m not sure it?d be the same the other way around if he was the restless one. 8-}

?Ah. So that?ll be your excuse.?
    [face_laugh] Cem is a hoot!

Twisting with the momentum of his fall, Jag punched down with his fist. He connected with Cem?s solar plexuses, and his knuckles exploded. ?Frag!?
Ow! :_| Always good to see that particular SW curse, though. [face_batting]

?Funny, I?d have thought you?d mention Dad first.?
    Busted!

Just like that Wyn had become Britna Starwind, executive assistant to the High Councilor. His sister was nowhere to be found behind the stern visage she presented. Her eyes even seemed to have shifted colors.
Oh, she?s the daughter of Wynssa Starflare, all right. [face_whistling] Very cool. [face_devil]

And now you?ve got me pondering whether there?s anything squicky about Morrigan Corde being related to Roan (through Wyn). :p Seriously, though, even if it?s just an allusion, it?s very cool. Nyna really does seem to shift colors compared to Morrigan.

?Oh. I thought you knew.? Shrugging, Wyn headed for the door.

    [face_dancing]

I am glad someone finally acknowledged that Jaina -- selfish, neurotic, damaged Jaina -- spent years being a good little Jedi while Jacen was out doing whatever it was that Jacen did.
Yeah she did. Luke not acknowledging that I?m sure stung. I?ve reflected it here.

I also see the foundation you're laying for the Imperial Knights.
    What are those? [face_whistling]

    aurrasingrules101: Fantastic update!
    Thanks!

It's terrible that his first thought is that she's going to leave him. Stupid profic never should have brought them to this. TUF should have seent them married.

Well I really thought this would be Jag?s breaking point. He can deal with saving Jaina and being part of her life, but getting rejected again? Who could blame him for being a bit whacky faced with the prospect of getting what he?s wanted all along.

Great foreshadowing here for the setup of the Imperial Knights. It just fits right in.
Oh it?s those guys again. I?m just writing a story about J/J :p

This makes me so sad. I can see where it's coming from, but my original love of Luke from those first movies won't quite let me accept it.
It?s not that Luke isn?t a good person or that I don?t want people to like him. I?m just portraying this from Jaina?s POV. None of his decisions were laced with malicious intent; they just ended up hurting her.

Jaina_and_Jag: Lovely update! We get a lot of insight into Jaina in that post. I always love your characterization of Jaina. It's spot-on!

Thank you for the kind words about my portrayal of Jaina. She?s very complicated and has a lot of layers. We?re getting to the bottom of the onion and won?t probably see her this exposed again.

Scrubs: I'm going to have to give serious thought as to which character is more confused at this point. (Oh, wait! Maybe that's me...) This Jaina feels so unfamiliar because she is rarely (if ever) written with any true maturity.
Well Troy sees it but not a lot of other authors. People can?t seem to get past her DJ. She?s a little spirited but she was mature enough to fly an X-wing at sixteen for the Rogues :)

Her initial reluctance to go to Csilla has certainly turned into acceptance of her role as Syal's protegé, among other things.
Feeling protected can do that for a person.

Poor Jag. Who can blame him? She?s part of that past, walking away from him. *thwacks Jaina* What was she thinking?!?

Jedimaster_JainaSolo: Wow, very introspective. Very profound. I love the way that they both have so many emotions, so many thoughts that they can't even pick them all out.
Doesn?t everyone have those moments? But thanks. I like being profound.

They can identify certain issues, but others they know that something is wrong, but can't point it out. Its so real.
    Yes it is so real.

I love Jaina's determination, and her desire to just be at Jag's side.
If I know one thing about Jaina is that she can stick to her guns once her mind has been made up. :)

    Solo_and_Fel: Oh no! Not Kyp!
Yeah I think he?ll be okay in the wash. ;)

It's sort of weird but also about time that Jaina did something for herself. I like her staying with Jag and not just for romantic implications... it just seems like a lot safer of place to be than anywhere else.
I know! Who could feel safe if even the twin brother is taking potshots at you for a few years.

Plus the New New New Republic or whatever its calling itse
