Now that George Lucas is returning to making Star Wars movies using animation, would you like to see any of the books made into movies?

Personally, I'd kill to see them make the Thrawn Trilogy into 3 Animated Movies. Ford and Hamill would probably do Han and Luke's voices, as for Carrie, her voice has changed a bit so they may need to recast her.

Naturally the stories would have to be tweaked a bit to line up continuity with the Prequels, but that isn't too big of a change.

I'd also love to see the New Jedi Order made into a animated movie series.

So, any books you'd like to see them make into Animated movies?

    New Jedi Order, definitely.

    Or ANYTHING post-RotJ.

I'm done with the Clone Wars era. LFL's already milked too much out of it to be appealing to me.

I agree completely, I have had enough Clone Wars as well. I am dying for something post-ROTJ.

If George does decide to rewrite what happens after ROTJ, I hope he doesn't change it too much.

I think that the Thrawn Trilogy would make perfect Episodes 7, 8, and 9

This may be an unpopular idea, but Dark Empire should be a photo-realistic CGI movie with the original actors performing the voices. Lucas stated that DE was his idea of what a sequel trilogy might be. I would love to see DE re-imagined after the prequels and on the screen or home released DVD.

LUCAS SHOULD MAKE DE AN ANIMATED FEATURE!

Hmmmm...what else? Most of the Bantam era would be lame and I don't really care to see the NJO live, since most of us have our own idea as to how the Vong look and all. Hmmm...what else? I never know what to write on here...haha. Especially while drinking....ummm...I would enjoy maybe seeing the IK's, but not like a Legacy storyline. Maybe the IKs in their own self-contained story, like a prequel to the Legacy era! Hey yeah! that would be cool! WHOO! Hmm...what else? uhh...Maybe Path of Destruction? Or a KOTOR era movie? I wouldn't mind seeing Zayne Carrick live and in person...errr, uh Live and in CGI i mean haha. How about that Superman: Doomsday movie? That was really cool! We need something Star Wars like that because Star wars is the best....I think I might watch Episode three right now. man i can type fast....

Star Wars TALES stories would also make great animated features! Like...uh, DARTH MAUL vs. DARTH VADER. I'm so glad Vader won, he is the superior Sith and he used Kendo...The fourth episode he pivots on his feet because prowse does the fighting and he doesnt in any other movie.

Maybe a movie that explores Yoda's origins might be fun! I love yoda he is cool and is like the size of a toddler. Two feet tall? realy? Vodka is good...Um I would like to see an animated feature of...REVAN! Revan is cool but Palpatine is the strongest of all the Sith no matter what the noobs on this board have to say. Ok that's all i Have to say now! yay!

Shadows of the Empire. I'm fairly sure they could get Mark, Carrie, Antony, James Earl Jones, and Billy Dee but I'm less sure they could get Harrison so SotE would let them use the OT characters without recasting them.

New Jedi Order, though I'm sure it would have to be condensed. I'd love to see TUF on screen.

When I was in middle school/high school, TTT came out and my friends and I started hearing rumors circulating that there would be three more Star Wars movies and they would be based on Zahn's books. We were ecstatic.

I still believe that if they wanted to make some type of Animated TV Series/Films based on a current piece of EU, TTT is the perfect candidate (Of course there would have to be some minor tweaks owing to continuity....) I think that...

    1. The story would translate well to the screen. There are not a lot of difficult concepts to have to try to get across.
    2. The story would be accessible to non-EU fans. The story is still about The Empire vs The Rebel Alliance (Now the New Republic). Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, C3P0, and Artoo figure prominantly. New characters are introduced but they aren't just "There"
    3. The story is darn fun. ;)

I'd love to see a mega-series, with a season dedicated to most important, and good, book series through the Bantam era (Thrawn, X-Wing, etc.) with the concluding seasons being the NJO. If there was no lead up, there is little to no impact from deaths such as Anakin Solo's.

I agree with others in feeling the Thrawn Trilogy would translate well to film. The story is not particuarly complicated and is broken into three nice and distinct episodes. Of all the options, I think it would be one of the easiest to do without messing with continuity that much to make it flow properly as a film.

The NJO would be nice if they could pull it off. Vector Prime would be easy enough, followed by Star by Star and ending with The Unifying Force. The problem would be getting it to flow right as its clear they want to make sure these animated movies can still be seen by casual Star Wars fans. So, I think the NJO might be in the greatest danger of continuity changes for it to work right as movies. The bad thing is that all the best parts would probably be left out due to them not meaning much to the average fan. Traitor wouldn't probably be necessary to even so much as mention. They could almost ignore Anakin's death entirely and just not include him in Vector Prime either. So, the NJO would require them to get creative to make it work right.

When they finally get bored with the Clone Wars I'd be happy to see a closer take on the NJO as a continuation of the animated series though. Movies would be difficult but a series with lots of episodes could easily enough go through the books.

Strangely enough I actually agree with others in thinking Dark Empire would be nice. I stress Dark Empire, not Dark Empire II or Empire's End. Empire's End is possibly the one story I wouldn't care if Lucas retconned into the void. Dark Empire though could be fun to watch.

Ford will shot himself in the mouth before sinking to do this.

And moreover, this is not the beginning of some endless animated theatrical serial...

Don't make more of it then it is...you'll hype it to death.

TTT would make an awsome cgi mini-series. Follow it up with Jedi acadamy getting the same treatment and see how it goes from there. I really really want a New republic show.

P.S. - Now that Anikan has a padawan how does that effect the prequal/ clone wars era books?

My basic policy on movie adaptations is as follows:

    1) If I merely like the book, I can live with it.

    2) If I love the book, then by all that is holy let them have the sense not to ruin their own creation!

I really don't think they're going to make any animated movies. I see this Clone Wars thing as a one off thing, sort of like a two-hour pilot, but with more hype because it is being release in theaters. And honestly, they can only pull this off because Star Wars is already very famous. Maybe if the series goes on for a long time we may see one or two more theatrical releases, but I find this to be very different compared to the love action movies. They had hype building up for years, while LF announced this only six months before it will be released. Not to mention the fact that Lucas made a public statement a few months back saying that he is now favoring TV as a medium over film. So methinks any other movies will also be convenient outgrowths of the television series.

The only way I could see post-ROTJ EU turned into a film is if the rarely talked about possible second 3D animated series comes to fruition and takes place in that time frame. However, if the series does get made, it is much more likely it will take place in the Rebellion era.

This upcoming film is the premiere of the television series. However, I'd like to see some of the novels/comics/games in animated film form. Shadows of the Empire, Dark Empire, NJO, Rogue Squadron would rule.

I'd like to see the X-wing books put into a Rogue Squadron 4 game if possible. The NJO would be the best setting for a animated movie IMO, provided they don't butcher the look of the invaders like this....

Didn't one of the late Wing Commander games have living ships as enemies? I thought that wasn't too badly done.

    God, I miss starfighter sims.

Presently it doesn't affect them at all- she's obviously not around by the time of ROTS, so whatever happens to her in relation to Anakin has basicly happened by the time of the other near-ROTS events.

I just hope we get a few adaptations of CW comics and books in the series; you know, occasionally instead of trampling on continuity (hey, it's a possibility that it will and we all know it), it can, say, give us two or three episodes about the Battle of Jabiim or the Haruun Kal affair.

Actually, Rogue Squadron would make an excellent Cartoon or Live Action (I think that's the right term....you know...with real people?) television series.

The thing is, that's a double edged sword. They think they're doing us a favor when they have things like the TIE Defender in Renegade Squadron, but such references cause problems if they aren't done right.

Ford has said in the past he has no interest in reprising the Solo character and, at the same time, he still had interest with returning to Indy and further exploring the character.

Mccallum (or was it Sanssweet?) has hinted in the past something like an animated SOTE might happen one day.

And, as much as I still feel it could be accomplished in live action, I could see my preferred option being realized in animated form, after seeing what both Clone Wars 3D and that Tales of the New Republic trailer could accomplish.

Yes, that's the one. I'd lost track of the WC games at that point, and was actually surprised to even find WC:prophecy, so I couldn't remember if that was the last or even the title of it. Thanks for the reminder.
