Daphne Keen getting weird about Yord coming along gave me the impression she knows something or has suspicions; in my opinion her character so far is that of a gifted child who might be a bit neurodivergent and can see details others wouldn’t?

And Yord seemed to light up when Mae was mentioned.

 

Agreed, he's a partial idiot. I bet he graduated last in his Jedi class.

 

That may be why I liked her immediately... we may share a double diagnosis ehehe
I don't think he is hiding bad but he may be hidigh who he truly is behind a curtain of hot strict jedi...

I think the idea is that Jecki is attracted to him, but she doesn't want him around to tempt her frigid Jedi ways. Notice how she critiqued "sentimentality" with Master Sol? She's afraid of emotion and feeling and especially sexuality. "Put your robe on!"

 

I just think she’s thinks he’s weird.

No I just think Yord is the dumb himbo of the Jedi order. Even Mae points out that it took him a while to become a Jedi knight

 

Now watching the second episode, I’m even more suspicious of him. Seems like he’s sort of averse to any thorough investigations and is just kind of acting a little off. I can see him as being a kind of Twin Peaks or Scream type heartthrob who just ends up being a psychopath.

I know there’s a preview clip of him going up against Darth Teeth but maybe it could be a misdirection where he has someone else wear the armor to throw everyone off.

I do think that's part of it, but I also think Jecki dislikes her attraction for him just because of this. She's like the intellectual star student who is attracted to her opposite, a complete meathead.

That's the implication of her discomfort with his uncovered bod.

I sincerely doubt there's any kind of physical attraction or flirtation going on. These are fully trained Jedi, seen in the Order's heyday. Any and all thoughts of that nature would have been repressed or eliminated entirely. And then, specifically regarding Yord and Jecki, the twenty-year age gap, and the fact that Jecki's still a minor, makes reading the scene from that angle... well, I'm gonna politely go with the word "distasteful" but yeah.

I get that Yord's on a devastatingly stunning level of his own, but y'all acting like we've never seen a beautiful man in Star Wars before.

Not a big fan of the look. More Star Trek than Star Wars.

 

His character feels like a trigger-happy cop archetype at times.

Can be subconsciously trying to prove (to himself, most likely) that he has truly earned his knighthood, to be point he can forget to be more levelheaded.

 

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I really like the design actually but I can see the Star Trek resemblance too. It's just that Star Wars has used Star Trek as inspiration before. Like Orion slave girls etc. I see nothing wrong with the design and I like it that it also looks less feline now and more like older Zygerrian design from legends but still with cat eyes and ears.

 

I mentioned it elsewhere, but Yord is the kind of character that I think works well for providing the necessary friction in group dynamics. Maybe he wouldn't be compelling enough as the lead in his own story, but I like how he makes Sol and Jecki bristle at times.

He's also a rare example of a Jedi who's pretty newly ascended to knighthood, which we haven't seen much of, aside from Anakin in the Clone Wars. It's interesting to see Yord assert himself in that way, even if that increases his own rigidity. I get the sense that he followed to the rules so fastidiously as an apprentice that his promotion made him double down further on that adherence.

 

Yord is funny, a little ridiculous, and also a good actor. A winning combination.

 

I wonder who the Internet would react if that was a female in her underwear instead of this guy going shirtless.

In terms of him igniting his light sabre, I assumed it was a nod to Fallen Order where Cal uses his light sabre to see in the caves.

 

I think Ezra also did that sometimes in Rebels lighting the lightsaber to make light in the dark effectively…
