Like I can see how early success with WandaVision and Loki might have emboldened them but... you'd think they'd realize that wouldn't be sustainable on the schedule they wanted?

For me, one of the big "are these guys sure they know what they're doing" moments was when they didn't hire any writers with experience writing courtroom scenes for She-Hulk. Y'know, the show where the titular character is a lawyer.

Secret Invasion is the worst one. Most frustrating the cast was very good and it got a lot right but it didn’t come together in a satisfying way that worked. Ben Mendolson’s character is one of the few MCU deaths that felt like a complete squandered opportunity,

Huh, according to that article, Moon Knight and She-Hulk had more viewers than Hawkeye, kooky. Ms Marvel being at the bottom is another sign that doesn't bode well The Marvels at the box office, though (tickets on sale now, hardly any sold so far)

And now the news of the day:

So they are throwing away everything they did, all the work all the filming, AND STARTING OVER FROM ZERO!
I thing it's way too clear Marvel is bankrupt cratively.
They don't know what to do and they keep tweaking it to death till the thing got unwatchable.
QuantumMania and Secret Invasion are great examples, with way too many re-shoots and re-writes, the final produtc made everybody angry.
Now this, proving they are truly directionless.
And to make things worst they are trying to deal with the uber confusing by nature multiverse.
If they can't write She Hulk and Daredevil they won't be able to write anything about several diferent realyties
The other day youtuber Ryan Arey posted a video about how cold the reception to Loki season 2 was.
In his channel the video about the series was one with the less views this year. And he said that many "influencers" also had minimal views on their Loki videos.
Many people say the MCU should reboot, but the reality is that the creative minds behiond it is that need complete, total renew.
Or they simply will hurt the brand beyond repair.

It's nuts that more people watched Moon Knight and She-Hulk than Hawkeye. I enjoyed Hawkeye the most out of all three. Moon Knight was terrible. She-Hulk was fine but not amazing.

It should be made clear that most MCU shows do have showrunners- this is just emphasizing that role and title beyond producer and director titles.

FWIW, She-Hulk is cited here as a series with a showrunner whose creative success inspired this shift towards a stronger showrunner position for these other shows.

I don't understand how a studio that has spent decades making great TV for kids seems to have no idea how to make TV shows the right way for streaming.

The ‘quality’ of what the outspoken fan watches vs what viewers at large watch at home is surprisingly inconsistent.

I don’t think time of year has much to do with it. Thou who knows. Hawkeye was released when the world was opening backup again after COVID.

I won’t try to decider what happened why.

In the end, the trick here is that She Hulk had a lot of "controversy" and the online hate by by the real life Inteligensia wiorked as adversiment to the show and many ended up watching to see what the fuzz was all about.
As for MoonKnight, i think it's pretty underrated. Just it. A very diferent take on the character but from its structure, the least problematic of the MCU TV offerings.

The most problematic thing about Moon Knight was that, despite decent hype and marketing, ended up being forgettable and almost entirely forgotten. Only Secret Invasion has surpassed it by that metric- and that had very little hype and marketing going into it.

It kinda gets by in that it was the point where people checked out from MCU TV overload, wasn’t terrible in any particular way, didn’t excel in any particular area (outside of Oscar’s performance, but then one could rave about some of the performance moments in Secret Invasion too) and didn’t garner any incel or grifter outrage.

Or with She-Hulk it’s just old fashioned sex appeal. Viewers tuned in because they want to see a shapely fit big green super strengthened lady Hulk who is also funny and smart.

I found MoonKnight the most similar to an MCU movie. It was very much equivalent to the other origin movies.

Is “The Marvels” the only MCU project in this second half of the year, besides Loki now?

I thought X-Men ‘97 was this year. Maybe at one time it was. Now I’m seeing a January 3 2024 release date.

Yeah, I think everything else live action that was supposed to be out in Dec Dec was pushed back to January due to the strikes and wanting to spread the content releases out until productions could resume.

Although I think we're getting What If...? Season 2 starting on Christmas.

Charles Soule was the legal consultant on She-Hulk. I am not sure if he’s still practicing immigration law; but he probably was the reason episodes 5, and -especially 8- worked as well as they did. Not sure if Soule also contributed the Big Law firm culture jokes -which made me [face_laugh] because they were so spot on- so who knows?

In response to your comment about no lawyers in the writer’s room for She-Hulk: You’d think they would have at least one former lawyer on staff, but the Daredevil Born Again writer’s room had 3-4 ex-New York lawyers-turned-writers on staff and it seems were all fired. It’s possible Disney/Marvel might stick with Soule as a consultant (especially if parts of his DD run are being used for DDBA.)

Maybe 5 lawyers on staff is why they ended up with what was apparently a talky legal drama without Daredevil until episode 4
