I like the ones we see on Kashyyyk... the Droid Gunship and the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid. Neither are in the poll but I reckon I'd vote for one of those. There were also Dwarf Spider Droids in AOTC (and possibly ROTS), as well as the Hailfire Droids someone else mentioned. Of the ones listed, I'd say the Magna Guards are my favorite.
As cool and deadly as the Magnaguards are, I'd have to say my favorite battle droids are the rolling balls of death that are the droidekas. Nothing beats those rolling terminators that can roll right to their destination, unfold and open fire. Even Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had to run from those deadly machines.
The Self-Motivating Heuristically Programmed Humaniform Automatic Combat Droid (aka the Grievous Body-Guard) IG-100's - specifically the Alabaster colored versions with the Izvoshra-style combat capes - given it seems whilst in the Clone Wars we have the common variant being a grey colored version serving as Infantry soldiers whereas has one noted the ones serving General Grievous - or rather in ROTS they had Izvoshra-style combat capes ... Ah the Droideka - who cannot forget the Droidekas eh?
i also love the new droids introduced in the tcw. Hyena bomber droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki Sniper droideka - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki Aqua droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki BX-series droid commando - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki T-series tactical droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki Super tactical droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
The "normal" Battle Droid is also my favourite. They got a memorable design which became classic and, imo, even iconic. They are definitely memorable. Love their introduction to the Battle in TPM and I'm not ashamed to say that I find them humorous at times. "Hands up, Jedi!" is entertaining and humorous absurdity showcasing maschine shortcomings A lot more entertaining that militarized Troopers who miss their targets all the time.
OOM-9 not even mentioned yet ? He's the 5th main villain in Episode I.(not counting Sebulba or Watto (who isn't actually a villain) ) I like how he's the main Battle Droid (commander) who interacts with Gunray and Haako and gives orders to other droids. He has the most human traits from all the battle droids in TPM.( have in mind that Battle Droids in TPM are mostly silent and their voices are mostly mechanical ( in AOTC it's a bit different and in TCW and ROTS you can clearly hear the difference). 'Cease fire ' (I just love analyzing every small detail ) The Sith Probe Droids have an interesting and unusual design indeed . (Sad that the 'Farewell to Jira' scene was cut)
I voted for Magna Guards only before I realized we could choose more than one (would've also voted for droidekas and spider droids). I liked the way Magna Guards appeared in Battlefront II as well as in the films. Especially like their capes and weapons.
Oh, I thought this thread was going to be about the favorite individual Battle Droid (wouldn't put it past the fans). In which case, I'd have to go with OOM-9. His delivery on lines like "open fire" was flawless. EDIT: Looks like Saga Explorer's with me on this one
The battle droid must have had a terrible time . The super battle droid is basically thinking " I show you how it's done ".
I gotta go with droidekas. They are able to put up the best fight against Jedi and even managed to drive two Jedi away one time.
There no match for Droidekas! I love them, the way they roll, the way they unfold, the noise they make when they walk, etc. They have a really unique design.
i like that one super tactical droid from the d-squad arc [its cool that those droids actually have names]
I have to go with droidekas. They always seemed the most menacing (and also the most visually creative to me) for how they could roll, how they had multiple appendages to fire with, and how they had their own little shields. Loved the bit in TPM on the corridor of the Trade Federation ship when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon face them and then decide to flee into the ventilation shaft.
I hated the bubble shield they used with a passion, it looks so stupid, but I like the droideka otherwise.
I forgot I even made this thread. While maybe not always shown to be the most competent, I still have a soft spot for Super Battle Droids. Especially their depictions in AOTC and the original Clone Wars micro series. Still love this little moment in AOTC.
Droidekas! Although the battle droid in TPM who's all "Coruscant? That does not compute" was pretty effing great.
Homing Spider Droid. Such a great design that has a 1950's Flash Gordon, War of the Worlds, old paperback novel cover type of vintage feel.
