I think it's awesome as well that Zayne hasn't ever in the series taken a life, and he makes sure to preserve life as he'd been taught. Makes him more Jedi than many of this era, and isn't the hypocrite his master is.

We have a saying here, and that is "Necessity teaches a naked woman to spin". I guess Zayne stunk while being in training and told that he stinks, but when he has to survive on his own his abilities and confidence become much more stronger. Willpower moves mountains, another saying tells us. ;)

Is that Jan Duursema's art on the ad? Her Mandalore and Jarael look great, but Gryph looks like some kind of Camel.

Sounds a blast! :D Especially Zayne winning but not killing anyone. Brilliant!

Well, in the RPG (WOTC), Force Points are like an mount of Force your character can use to enhance his actions. In-game example would be adding another die to a roll of great importance. And a character can get on either by advancing a level or does something epic and heroic. Everyone starts with 1 FP and non-Force sensitives can have up to 5 FP. At least this is how it works in the 2002 edition of Star Wars RPG (RCR). I'm still 'studying' the Saga Edition, because my RPG buddies and I are most probably going to transfer to it due to great sourcebooks that will be published for it. KOTOR and Legacy will probably make it worth it, even though I'm not overly satisfied with SE.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this works with Minis as well. I've played Minis only two times. I use them in RPG mostly, for characters and enemies, when using the grid.

I don't know... Lucien never really wanted a Padawan - the Covenant members had more other matters to attend to, but maybe he would treat Zayne better is he was any more skilled. Lucien was probably telling him he stinks, because that's Lucien and he has big expectations. He even thought his fellow Covenant members stink when he way younger. But I don't think he was lying to Zayne about his results and stuff like that, I don't think he cared about it anyway. He focused on Zayne and started giving him attention only after the Padawan Massacre, after he was the one who managed to escape.

    True. :)

The test game you played is brilliant. Sounds about right, too... Zayne is definitely one of my top 5 favorite EU characters, which says something.

What's the setup for the minis game? Is it essentially the same as the standard d20 ruleset that WotC's stuff runs off of?

The miniatures use a simplified version of the RPG combat system, more or less. A game consists of 2 or more squads, usually around 100 points, each chosen from one of nine different factions, Old Republic, Sith, Mandalorians, Republic, CIS, Rebel, Imperial, New Republic or Yuuzhan Vong. Characters from the tenth faction, Fringe, can be added to any squad. Zayne is a Fringe unit. Games are played on a gridded battle map and uses a d20.

Turn order is decided at the start of every round. Players take turns activating 2 characters at at time until everyone has been activated, then a new round begins. The turn order roll is also what determines Zayne's Karmic Luck for that round.

The combat system is simple. Your roll, plus modifiers, has to tie or beat your target's defense score. There is no range limit as long as you can see your target and you aren't melee. However, the rules for legal targets can get complicated, so I won't go into them here.

In official league play rules, the game can either be won by killing enough points of enemy units to equal your squad cost, or by gaining gambit points by occupying the center of the map. Therefore, it is possible for Zayne to win without killing an unarmed enemy.

Jedi and other force sensitive characters have Force Points. Force Points can be spent on 3 things, re-rolling an attack or save, moving an extra 2 squares during your movement, or to use Force Powers. Once a Force Point is spent, it can not be used again. So although Jarael starts with more Force Points than Zayne, she will only ever have two. Zayne gains a new force point every round, so he really has a lot more Force than Jarael. Starting force points are often low on characters with renewal, Darth Talon only starts with 1 Force Point as well. Some Hans, all Grievouss(plural?) and PROXY have Force Points as well, but only 1 each. Jarael has the most Force of any non force sensitve, which either means she has the force, or she is just that awesome.;)

Ok, so it's very similar to RG combat, except FPs are a little different. Cool.

Hehe! :D Both works very well.

Bravo for the tireless work! =D=
    :p

And yay for achieving a seat in the Senate. Now that EUC is back to normal, lol, this thread could only profit from such an engagement. :)

Now all we have to do it to pick a Senator.

The Minis game sounds great! :) It's amazing that they managed to put Zayne's awesome non-killing people into the game. :D

I just read the Nights of Anger arc, and Lord Adasca is super-creepy. The whole time he was being nice, and I was like "There's no way a guy that creepy-looking is up to any good." I was kind of relieved to find I was right, but now I'm all worried for Jarael & Co. [face_worried]

    And giant space monsters!

Exogorths are extremely cool! :D I've always wondered about origin od Space Slugs and the info we got on them in KOTOR is awesome! :D
Now every time I see ESB I think of KOTOR comics.

Me too! I watched ESB with a couple of friends last month and they don't usually read SW comics. And in the Asteroid field scene I was all "Exogorth!!!" :D And they just looked at me confused "Who?", "What?" :p

I love Exogorths! :D They're quite impressive. And my friends were also confused. :p
My cousins comment when I showed her Exogorths from the comic was:"Aren't they supposed to be smoother?"
    :p

He is. And that's my favorite kind of villain! ;) Someone you like to hate but are not actually sure from the start if they're truly bad or not. :p

Well, there's a picture of the back cover of the KotOR Campaign guide out now (I hope my local bookstore gets the book ontime). The most obvious figure there is Bastilla with two yellow lightsabers, and unfortunately, Zayne and Jarael are much smaller figures than she is. And is that Zayne holding a blue lightsaber? That's a bit odd, I thought Zayne's lightsaber was always yellow. Hm, maybe it could be a hint of future stuff (maybe its Lucien's lightsaber?), or maybe I'm just over thinking things and its just artistic liscense. Still, nice cover, nice back, and hopefully very nice contents. Just a few more days....

Ah, its simple, assuming not too much other news comes out soon, just check the Daily Dose that's at the bottom of the boards, it should mention the story with the back of KotOR Campaign guide being revealed. Right beneath the notice that there's a Legacy era Campaign guide coming out, though that's already old news, as there's already a month-old topic in Lit about that new guide, but guess no one on the main TheForce.net site noticed until now.

Though for simplicity's sake, here's the link:

Ah, ok. I'm having some trouble with JC; not seeing the banner and icons, not even the bottom bit, so can't see the TFN news. I thought it was just random boards malfunctioning but it seems I'm the only one... [face_thinking]

Who's that next to Bastila? A droid or a weird trooper? [face_thinking]

Cool back cover. Although I find Zayne's hair to be a little weird. As if he's wearing a wig or something. :p

    I think it's HK. Don't know which one, though; 47 or 24. He's a bit weird too.

That "droid?" has all the elements of HK-47, so I think that's who it's supposed to be. I have to admit though, I'm not a huge fan of this back cover. At least it's on the back, I love the front cover.

I love the cover, Bastila looks great! ;)

But it is strange, especially droid. I think it is HK-47, although it could be either one of HK's.
And Jarael's hair swing thing is ridiculus. :p

Well, given that HK-47 is on the front already, that seems unlikely. I'd guess 24. ;)

ETA: At least the illustrations on the back are similar enough for Zayne and Jarael that I think they'd get HK-47 right... but no guarantees. My previous statement is obviously not accurate, given we have Zayne and Jarael twice.
