I'm warming to the idea that Plagueis knew Sidious would fail - it hints in the novel. The arrival of the Chosen One might have forced him to protect himself and let the Sith fail; Andy Serkis, if he is Plagueis or whoever, is likely be the dark side incarnate - far more evil and sinister than Sidious.

I call BS on Darth Plagueis. Their not going to bring that character into the fold without having a ridiculous amount of exposition to explain why he is even there.

In fact, I call BS on the report. Looking like an old zombie is too similar of a description to that of Palpatine.

Er....EP III introduced him and Sidious informed a newly crowned Vader that one Sith managed to cheat death.

Not difficult to explain his existence.

I'd be inclined to agree with you if it wasn't for the picture above that shows concept art that looks EXACTLY like Plagueis....

Not difficult to explain his existence, but difficult to explain why he is alive.

Palpatine is too clever to have allowed his old Master to live. Besides, Lucasfilm is pounding over their head the videos from the Yoda Arc in which it's explained that the Sith are captivated by the physical realm.

I would imagine JJ fought Plagueis in this movie. Just by what I've heard about him wanting to distance his film from the PT (NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PT)

There's no doubt in my mind, based on that, at some point they decided to base one of the Sith off of how EU Plagueis looks.

But there's nothing that says they decided to stick with it.

I don't find it difficult to understand why Plagueis would be the villain in the ST. I think a lot of what has been said around these forums regarding DP being the villain makes total sense and is far from being a stretch. Someone actively seeking immortality and manipulating the God awful 'midichlorians' through the force is absolutely worthy of being the new big bad guy.

The biggest thing I get from this concept art is that Anakin's old lightsaber might make an appearance.

True however the whole opera room scene that told the short tale of Plagueis was one of the rare bright spots of the PT so maybe that was enough for JJ or whoever else to pitch DP as the villain in the ST.

Just to let you know, Star Wars Underworld have legit sources that feed them accurate information. For those of us that have been following they're reports over the past month, everyone of their exclusives have been accurate.

That's debatable to say the least. Sure, the depiction of the lightsaber was accurate but some of those rumors about the animatronics thing certainly wasn't.
Besides, simply because they are fed right information once doesn't mean they will be fed again.

Sometimes it's better to use logic than to trust rumors.

Perhaps though it depends how much he had to stay with dogma with it. For example, I can see JJ agreeing to use Plagueis if that meant they could ditch the "Sith Rule of Two".

Not only did they leak the concept art of the cross guard lightaber first, but they also leaked art of the droid before the teaser. They ALSO were the first to report Oscar Isaac would play an X-Wing pilot that would appear in the teaser.

MSW backed up their report on the animatronics. How has that info been disproven?

There's only 2 Sith in the OT while Plagueis definitely isn't in the OT.

Well, they said that the robots would be animatronics, that the main characters would not be CGI, and yet clearly the trailer debunked that notion with the droid.

Besides, MakingStarWars had shown pictures of the droid WAY before Star Wars Underworld did. They had said that Oscar Isaac was piloting a Y-Wing, and yet clearly he was piloting an X-Wing. Not to mention the fact that MakingStarWars has contradicted himself before, most notoriously with Luke. So tell me, why should we trust another fan site so blindly?
