a teacher was walking with a ****ty person to escort that speaker to their venue in a college. an angry mob attacked and left the teacher hospitalized. CT1138 was defending the mob and saying that more violence should have been done.

 

There was a beautiful piece on one of the recent BBC News podcasts, about FN in France. They spoke with a first generation Frenchman of Moroccan parentage who is a Front National supporter. He said the most racism he encountered was from the left, who told him with his face he should vote for left-leaning parties.

Not that the bar for discourse here is especially high but it's interesting to note the common theme of progressive (regressive?) bigotry and intolerance in our society.

 

The gist of it. I didn't read the article, and assumed it was the fascist who got hurt.

 

That doesn't make it okay, either.

I'm not sure why you think it's okay for some old guy to get hurt by a mob for saying terrible things at a liberal college.

 

The thing about reacting violently to someone's words doesn't make much sense to me, probably because as a child I was indoctrinated with the saying, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me but words will never hurt me."

It's overly simplistic, but then again I've never punched someone because I disagreed with their beliefs, or salivated at the thought of an ironic lynching.
