Bots Now Outnumber Humans on the Web

I've grown to suspect that half of you are bots half as well as I should like, and that half of you act like bots half as well as a bot's reputation deserves.

But to be serious, bots performing the role of humans on the internet, other than to serve as virtual advertising spammers that we're all familiar with, is something that has already begun to evolve in strange directions. Botbidding on Ebay, as mentioned in the article, is sort of annoying, as is trying to buy basic things like plane tickets. I'm pretty sure some are even a little more sophisticated and set loose on forums like ours to carry out an agenda (other than spamselling). Like Disney setting loose a bunch of bots in Lit to decry the old EU.

 

I tried to find a picture of the head of that guy from Scanners exploding, but the Internet didn't have one.

 

This confirms my suspicions of "the return of Havac". So far "he" hasn't done anything but double post, mock SWDBPODANOTOR and tell a punchline. Wake up before it's too late! Soon we will all just repeat our opinions again and again in pretty much the same form... oh.

 

Apropos of nothing:

Also, GRRM is forgiven for being slow on the next novel after the publication of The World of Fire and Ice.

I can't believe Ralph Bakshi even finished this movie, considering he probably had to stop every five minutes and... you know... take care of something.

Ahh, Bakshi, I get it. I really do. I was a 12 once too... lots of time spent drawing underboob in those days.

 

But Bakshi did make the quintessential Lord of the Rings movie. You have to give him that.

Of course, I was homeschooled, so I would've been speaking to family and close friends. Still, it could've applied.

Yeah, that's probably would've happened. Then again, only about half of my family and friends have actually seen LOTR, so the awkward silence might've been there–or they might've courtesy-laughed to make me feel good, but thus ruined the authentic feeling.
