Man, I wish we get to see a video of her auditioning soon to see how impressive she really is. That would be nice if StarWars.com release it for the fans.

At least I hope she got the role really because of a good audition, not just because of her acting in 12 Years a Slave movie... automatically got her the role.

I keep wondering about her true range of acting ability. Is she really as good as everyone think she is? I have to see it with my own eyes... beyond 12 Years a Slave what is her ability?

 

I assume you're referring to her lack of film credits causing you to doubt. I'll say to that, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill had little experience when they were cast in the original.

 

Don't mean to sound critical of SW acting, but the fact is Mark and Carrie aren't great actors(Oscar worthy, Best acting awards...) but I guess she can't do worse.

The woman is an outstanding actress - you can just watch that and you'll need to see no reason for her getting the part

Awards, especially the oscars, are to worth a hill of beans.

It is a rare occasion that the deserving win the prize.

 

I would have to say that Best Actor/Actress awards do in fact mean something. I would agree that "Best Picture" awards are useless. Always seems to go to some movie that barely anyone saw.

 

She could very well be playing the main Inquisitor villain.

 

Best Actor Actress yes(of course Leo should have one), but not Supporting Actor/Actress. It's easy to missfire those. Yes it is possible to steal the show with 10 minutes of screen time, but hard to gauge actual acting ability with so little to go on. Of course the OT cast was a bunch of unknowns so it can go either way.

Depends on what you mean by main villain. most visible or the bug bad. MVS is also most likely a villain and I doubt he would be serving under Lupita, who could be her granddaughter.

 

Don't even know who this actress is. 12 Years a Slave isn't my kind of film so I wont be watching it, and I don't even know if she's been in anything else. But if she's been cast in SW I can only assume she's good enough.

Lupita is playing a Force witch who has falsely led Adam Driver (Force powered son of Emperor Von Sydow) to believe he is the reincarnation of Palpatine die to the coincidence of his birth/conception being just hours after the Battle if Endor.

There will be the hint that they are lovers but nothing stated outright.

She either is simply misleading him in the hopes of gaining power and influence or it is related to that "Ancient Fear".
