ST Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in Episode VII

His ROTJ look is my ideal look for Luke. I agree with you. I like him in the all-black clothing

 

After his white-grey-black transformation in the OT, it is kind of hard to imagine what color he'd wear now. Maybe have him in layers of robes that include all three?

 

I always liked the all black, but judging by the the white flap present after he makes his decision to refuse the darkside, I think he'll have lighter color Jedi clothes.

Pretty sure the flap is there from the beginning of ROTJ.

 

The flap only opens to show the white after Luke refuses to turn and starts to get hit with the Emperor's lightning

 

Yeah, and Luke's black Jedi outfit at the start of ROTJ is different to the one he wears from Endor onwards. The one he wears under the cloak at Jabba's doesn't have a flap.

 

I think it does, it's just under the tunic he wears up until he turns himself in. On the DS he isn't wearing the tunic

There is an odd interview floating around on here (from the 80s) in which Mark Hamill committed Luke's ST custome was Vader-ish. So I'm assuming he is staying all jet black.

I don't think it would fit to have Luke in the black outfit again. I love the White Knight idea or I wouldn't mind him in traditional Jedi garb.

 

I want him in Jedi robes with a beard and something tells me i will get this as Luke is old school .

I don't know why I've never really noticed that, but you're right! Always something new to learn, or realize.

 

If he brought balance then maybe he should be wearing a combination of both. Like this second image that T-R- posted.

 

This is what I was thinking, brown robe and tan/beige Jedi tunic and leggings. Maybe something similar to Qui-Gon's outfit in TPM.

 

I would hate to see Luke not have some black incorporated in his look.

I know Luke looks cool in black and all, but if they made the decisions for these movies based solely on what was cool and ignored facts like color having major symbolic significance, then as far as I'm concerned I can toss this trilogy out the window because it isn't really Star Wars.

 

I agree, as much as I really want to see him in black. Though I do really like the art posted above, and that would work with the whole 'balance' theme.

 

Well, that's why Kasdan being on-board as the screenwriter and consultant is so important. He gets these kinds of things, mythic symbology and all that. Plus both he and Abrams are fans of the original film, which is rife with symbolism. So I think you can rest assured your concerns will be addressed.

 

I thought it'd be kind of cool to just forget the jedi robes and try to do something different. Maybe more in the vein of a gun duster/steampunk inspired (but with the star wars touch added to it). I just photoshopped something together I thought might look cool. Maybe he could utilize armor sort of like some of the designs in SWTOR. Here's what I did in any case...
