ST Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) in Episode VII

Contractually obligated beards for Dom and Mark, but not Oscar and Harrison? I wonder if Driver will have contractually obligated facial hair.

 

That is interesting. Since he's still on set (with Harrison and Adam still in costume, no less) I'm willing to bet he's still filming. Which would mean his character grows a beard during the course of the movie?

Also, I'm willing to go at this with an electron microscope and say that Adam's sheet billows out like he's wearing a robe underneath it.

 

Maybe this movie is about the awesomeness of Mark's beard and how everybody tries to emulate it. Adam's character can't grow one because he's a cyborg so he becomes evil and sends out beardless beardie-hunters to capture or kill Luke and the others. It's a sort of twist on the Napoleon complex except this time it's about beards, not height.

 

LUKE: He's more cleanshaven than beard now, smooth as a baby's bottom - and evil.
DAISY: No, uncle. There's still ingrown hair in him. I can feel it!

YODALEIA: Unexpected this is, and unfortunate...

DAISY : Unfortunate that I know the truth?

Yodaleia opens her eyes again and studies the youth.

YODALEIA: (gathering all her strength)
No. Unfortunate that you rushed to face him... that incomplete was your
grooming. Not ready for the sunlight were you.

DAISY: (sighs) I got burned -- by the aftershave of truth. %:'(

 

Oscar had his contractually obligated beard in Inside Llewyn Davies.

 

That is such a tease with Adam and Harrison... ugh.

Just wait for the attempts at contrast boosting and other photoshop manipulations to try and see what's under the sheets

Of course it wasn't really them. He was joking.

 

I can definitely see it. Although, in my head, I always pictured him as an officer under Han (assuming Han is a General in the Republic) and someone Han has taken under his wing (a mentee, if you will). DR's character comes back from whatever mission or hideout she's been working on, sees that he has the Falcon (albeit temporarily in Han's absence) and is PISSED OFF because she sees it as her birthright as the daughter of Han Solo. You then have the beginning of your love triangle - Daisy, Boyega and Isaac - while on their mission to find Luke led by Han. Not that there HAS to be a love triangle but the ratio kind of points in that direction. You have one-liners from Han about these two dudes eyeing his daughter, etc....

 

I think that of all the cast, I hope that Isaac is the Solo, even though his "ethnicity" would be hard to explain.

Oscar really seems like a young Al Pacino.

 

Yeah, that's pretty much the response by anyone who has seen this trailer.

 

And Al Pacino was originally offered the role of Han Solo, but turned it down. hmm.

 

I have to wonder how far "to the roots" J.J is planning on going.

That movie looks excellent. Oscar is one of those actors that is so engaging and interesting, he draws you in.

Unrelated, I realize that's but Jessica Chastain, but all I'm seeing is Courtney Love.

 

New EW interview with Oscar:

"Have you had much interactions with the original trio of Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill on or off-screen?

Yeah, I have. Both. They’re such funny people. Carrie is hilarious and doing such cool work. Harrison is back. He went on hiatus for a little while, but he’s 150 percent back. It’s pretty amazing to see him bounce back. He looks incredible. Everyone’s having a really good time. J.J. sets that tone. There’s a lot of enthusiasm and it’s being done with a lot of heart. There’s nothing cynical about the way we’re doing this. Even the in way he’s shooting it—he’s shooting on film and actually building the sets, so you’ve got hundreds of Stormtroopers or whatever, and hundreds of extras and all the ships. You actually see it. It’s all real. Everyone can interact with the world."

So he's working with Harrison and Carrie, but not Mark apparently. Lends further support to Luke being missing and/or Oscar playing a Solo kid or at least an associate of Han's.
