I have not. Recall: I don't own anything FFG yet.

Just rename this one, JuanLesCortos. I don't mind.

dp; the X-Wing stuff is lethal. The FFG RP rules are less lethal for starship combat, because you know - ejecting, running away etc - are all options over death.

But seriously. You played WEG. Not owning FFG stuff is not ok. Trust me; this is everything we loved about WEG and none of the bad things we forgot over time like "I have 12D6+2 in a skill. Someone pass me the bucket of D6."

It does sound great, indeed; I talked a bit to the designers at C6 and they sure seemed to know exactly what they were doing. I'm kind of tired of FFG's love for their own unique dice. Special snowflakes they are. :p But that's just a minor pet peeve.
    Oops.

JoinTheSchwarz - do you own the rulebooks?

If not, and you want to run the game (I highly recommend it) then you want the Age of Rebellion book, as well as Stay on Target, the spec book for the Ace. Whilst you can get useful stuff out of Edge of the Empire and Force and Destiny, and the systems work, the main problem will be if you have 3 fighter aces who all have Duty and a Force user (I LUBS JEEDI, sigh) with Morality, or an Edge character with Obligation.

    Wait.

Do you know the system at all?

Yeah, I own Edge of the Empire, but it's been gathering dust for, uh, nearly two years, maybe more. My friends suddenly felt extremely nostalgic about D6, so I mostly used EoE for inspiration (the gazzetteer is priceless) and, even though I've read the whole manual, I've never played one single game.

I've bought every single SWRPG rulebook as soon as they were published, almost as a tradition. I bought the original d20 (imported and thus twice as expensive) and I don't think we played more than three adventures with it. :p

    No, it's still here.

Well, let me just say this - FFG, when played properly, will feel like D6 without you getting a workout from lifting a bazillion D6s.

And it's pretty organic in terms of story. You really don't need to play out the adventure as a series of small set pieces, it will just evolve. A player getting a success with Setback or Disadvantage can be enough to create a whole new story arc for you.

    Also, this: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Orde... Episode 25 - Great Sam! Don't Get Cocky!.mp3

Adventure ideas is the one thing I never lack. What I don't have is enough time to develop them into full adventures. :p

    You don't need to.

The way FFG works? You just go with the flow.

Honestly, between the bankable stupidity of players ("The door is locked in the dungeon. It's the only one that is." "I pick the lock.. ok, so rolled 19, plus skill, that's a 35" "The beholder shoots out from its cell..." "BEHOLDER? WTF?" "The only locked door and you open it?") and the way the triumph/despair, advantage/disadvantage mechanics work, it'll write itself.

I always loved those. The entire dungeon is empty except for the one cell back there. It's triple-locked. What do you do?

Yeah, I'm more than okay with improvising, and it's one of the reasons I've always been attracted to more free-form systems (even D&D 4E, with all its failings, was a gift to me due to how easily you could create a new opponent or situation out of thin air). Still, I like to stage certain important scenes, though, and to develop NPCs with care.

I haven't played any tabletop rpgs in person for a long time due to everyone being far away. That said, part of the kickstarter rewards i got for backing Shadowrun Hong Kong is tons of pdfs of the Shadowrun Tabletop game. I may give that a look.

If you haven't played the system JonTheShortsHisAAdminThisIsBullcrap, do you want me to expand on how the dice work?

No, no, I know how it works. I have the app and everything (even though I've never had the chance to use it!). It's a very simple system, right up my alley. I'm just wondering exactly how well the system would work for a whole starfighter squadron of, let's say, ten adventures or so.

And Sean: good memories of Shadowrun, even though the setting is ridiculous and some of the mechanics are (or used to be) even worse. But I played with a GM that knew how to imprint a really engaging comedic slant to his games, and I think I have more hilarious anecdotes from that campaign than from any other I've played.

    OK yes. Well.

According to that podcast and my memories of it, very well. Because basically the dice conspire to ruin your plans you can end up just cribbing a mission plot from XWA, and then just dealing with the outcome. My advice too is - yes, look my dear PC, I understand that you have an uncomfortable swelling in the trousers over the A/B Wing, but trust me, it has no Astromech and nobody wants to see you eject every week if you flub a few rolls and can't fix the ship.

You can usually find a group through your FLGS or an online forum. You may struggle though...

So last night, I confirmed a crit power attack vital strike. My STR ended up becoming 21 (19 base + 2 from belt that gives +2STR/DEX/CON) and I have a +1 AW adamantium bastard sword.

Rolled an 8 on the first D10, 10 on the second and 4 on the D6 (cold enchant).

    8 + 10 + 4 (cold) + 15 x 2.

( I have 2 ranks weapon prof, power attack, BAB of 9).

    Wasted feats indeed Ramza!

Ah, the crit feats from Pathfinder. I was such a massive d20 fan, and I've come to dislike it so so so so much...

Yeah but I mean, it was more ethical to cheat by putting god mode on so you could get the mods than it would be to put points into swimming.

    Even Yahtzee sings about it.

    dislike Pathfinder or d20, Daveeeed?
