Comics Kanan (Marvel) #1: The Last Padawan, part 1 (of 5)

I kind of always felt like the takeaway from the PT was that the Jedi Order had lost sight of this, and the person who rediscovers it is (or is meant to be) Luke. I like the idea of some straggling survivors figuring it out in the meantime, though.

 

There's also a huge difference between what Walt Disney Pictures does and what companies owned by Disney do.

 

I remember seeing someone on Twitter say that Kemp's descriptions of a Sith Lord strip-mining a planet in Crosscurrent didn't strike them as Star Wars as it was too dark.

Maybe they had never seen Star Wars before but the first movie blows up an entire planet. I'm not sure how much darker you could really get.

 

Completely biologically destroying a planet's entire ecosystem?

 

There's still a chance it could be terraformed or something I guess.

But Alderaan will never exist ever again.

Ever.

 

Consider this the first Marvel thing I'm actually looking forward too...

(Don't mind me writing mental loops about how Depa got out of her coma, though )

 

Maybe Kanan will meet some more characters we know like Shaak Tii or Fox. Maybe he will even behead Fox. That would be nice.

 

I would like it if Kanan killed Fox...right after Fox killed Depa Billaba.

This guy does an AWESOME Kanan -- the expression on the "older" version at the bottom right is spot-on.

 

Wow, seeing him in Jedi gear is kind of weird. He definitely looks like a 14-year old Kanan, though.

Ooh, this comic is going to be brutal.

Nice, this looks great. I wish Doug Wheatley was doing the art, but ah well, at least he got to do the cover for the book. This will be the first marvel comic I get.

 

I'll be waiting for the trade, but I'm definitely getting this

Kanan #1 - April

 

I really hope we get to see AND Kanan and not Rebels dad Kanan. I like dad Kanan, but I really like AND Kanan.

 

How long is this series supposed to last.

 

Well this is earlier than AND, so he should be ANDier than ever.

 

Which is precisely the point. It would be really awkward if he say; was quick to draw his lightsaber.

 

He probably will be at first, because starting off this is not Rebels Kanan OR AND Kanan. It's Caleb Dume the Jedi Padawan. This thing starts right before Order 66, so we get to see 14 year-old Padawan Caleb slowly become AND Kanan.

 

Caleb Dume + alcohol = AND Kanan

AND Kanan + Hera = Dad Kanan
