JCC The JCC Watches Movies! (this Friday night... STREET FIGHTER: THE MOVIE!)

Gotta admit, that was a very strange remake of The Great Escape.

 

Well, fact is often stranger than fiction. The Great Escape is notoriously inaccurate and dramatized.

 

Yeah, if it had been based on documented facts, maybe the contrast wouldn't have been so extreme.

 

Are you guys doing the sarcasm thing...

 

The intro disclaimer of the film said:

 

Wow, I missed that part. That's just . . . amazing.

 

To be fair I did count two real Nazi experiments over the course of the entire movie, both presented back to back and involving buxom naked women because... yeah. But that last sentence dedication is a borderline hate crime all its own.

Edit: In terms of particularly egregious disclaimers, the second movie we rolled before deciding we weren't in the mood, Ultimo Mondo Cannibale, has bookend disclaimers that both swear to its total authenticity, which is somehow even more laughable. It's kind of a running thing in these exploitation films, presumably added to increase the taboo feeling of the whole proceeding... or to avoid prosecution. Or both.

 

So, for this week, the plan is to watch Nazithon or, if not possible, Escape from Bronx, sequel to JWM favorite The Bronx Warriors.

 

I am once again okay with both Friday and Saturday barring any last minute things.

Also, if we end up doing a movie 2 roulette, I should maybe not roll, it seems to keep picking things I uploaded.

 

Nazithon did upload to my youtube, but it's barred in like 257 countries. I'll give it a test on synchtube later and see if you ferners can see it.

I hope the reason is that the word "nazi" is autofiltered by 257 countries.

 

I finally have a free Saturday tomorrow so if people are up for Friday night, I am so there.

 

I've recently decided to go chronologically through Mystery Science Theater as I never did see all the episodes. I'm watching Robot Monster and decided to upload it in the JCC theater if anyone wants to join in.

 

We just watched robot monster! What a coincidence!

 

Holy smokes I swear I realize that. Haha.

 

I'm in the process of declaring LOA at work, so I may be able to make it to Saturday's showing.

So with about an hour and a half until our usual start time, were we thinking of doing this tonight?
