So does anyone here have this yet? I've seen some details from it popping up on Wookiepedia, and I'm very interested to see that not only is it recanonizing a lot of stuff, but it in fact has a lot of new information as well. For instance, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tiree_(Gold_Squadron)]Tiree never got a first name or homeworld in the LEU, but now he is http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dex_Tiree]Dex Tiree and is from Onderon. I wonder what else like this is in the book. I also wonder what the entry for Coleman Kcaj looks like. Did they even have enough for a full sentence?
No, but the following Rebel pilots get entries: Jon "Dutch" Vander, Garven "Dave" Dreis, Biggs Darklighter, Jek Porkins, Davish "Pops" Krail, Dex Tiree, and Wedge Antilles (from the section on characters first introduced in ANH ) Zev Senesca, Derek "Hobbie" Klivian, Wes Janson, and Dak Ralter (from the ESB characters section) The Y-wing pilot who survives at Yavin, the A-wing pilot who crashes into the Executor, and the A-wing pilot who joins the final attack run on the second Death Star are mentioned but not identified by name. There are a few odd stray bits of old EU to be found: R5-D4's allegiance is listed as "Rebel Alliance" with no explanation, and creatures from the Ewoks cartoons and tv-movies are mentioned to be living on Endor (Goraxes, Duloks, bordoks, condor-dragons, and ponies.)
"Wedge Antilles grows up on Corellia, where he works as a pilot and mechanic." Then it jumps right into joining Red Squadron and flying missions against the Empire.
"Well-versed in forest survival, [Ewoks] travel long distances on shaggy spotted ponies and use friendly bordocks to haul loads of supplies." FWIW, the ponies used in the Ewok tv-movies weren't spotted, but the ones pictured in The Wildlife of Star Wars were.
Can I ask a slightly dumb question? Are the Separatists in this at all? Including the Separatist Council?
You know, not only I don't mind this, I actually welcome it. I'd like to see some more real world animals in Star Wars. Am I alone on this?
I would love to know what Ackbar's entry & the Mon Cal cruiser entry say. Also- does Mon Cala get an entry too? --Adm. Nick
Seems rather odd that there was a breakdown of Rebel pilots from the first two OT films but not RotJ. What about other Rebels? Specifically: Willard Toryn Farr Madine (is he still a former Imperial?) Cracken Nien Nunb
Do any of them appear in the "Blade Squadron" story, and get into canon that way? No Willard (oddly enough for a character named in the credits), no Toryn Farr, no Cracken. (Always seemed silly to me for the head of Alliance Intelligence to man a gun turret on the Falcon anyway. Were it up to me, I'd have the character return but assign a different name to that extra.) Madine and Nien Nunb have entries, but Madine's entry doesn't mention being an ex-Imperial. Admiral Ackbar, General Rieekan and Major Derlin get entries, though -- Derlin is listed as part of the ground assault on Endor and appearing in Episode VI (presumably just offscreen?)
No, but between the http://www.starwars.com/databank/rebel-pilots-biography-slideshow]Rebel pilot gallery on the Databank and Star Wars in 100 Scenes, most of them are back in canon already. Still, this could have added some major details on their backstories back in. That is rather strange. I figured pretty much every character who had lines would get an entry, Willard in particular. Then again, he always has been rather overlooked. What about the Jedi Council? Any information on the fate of the members we don't see die in any of the films or TCW? I think there are still six with unknown fates in the NEU: Yaddle Yarael Poof Eeth Koth Shaak Ti Oppo Rancisis Coleman Kcaj And are any background Jedi who were given identities by the EU given an entry? I'm thinking about Bultar Swan in particular (who actually is back in canon already thanks to a databank update last week, but I'm hoping for more details).
