Much of John Williams' music has similarities with other works he has composed (for both SW and non-SW movies). So yes, the mysterious-evil tone he sets in E3 sounds similar to the mysterious-evil tone he sets in E7, but count me among those who say that is no real evidence that the characters are the same.

I just think the wound to the head has the appearance of a lightsaber to the brain. It just looks so huge and as if whatever left that wound went it deep.

Agree - whatever this thing is, it was dead or as close to death was on can be.

Between this being having the appearance of something that was once dead, the similar music from the ROTS opera scene, and the "but the Supreme Leader is wise" line from the movie, I think that's a lot just to be a mere coincidence.

At this stage, I will be very disappointed if this guy turns out to be just some random bad guy that came out of nowhere.

I think Snoke is Darth Plagueis, but he could easily be someone else. I could see Lucasfilm making Snoke be Plagueis as a nod to Lucas.

The structure of the clavicles, facial structure and height should add more proof to the fact Snoke is humanoid rather than human... Just like Plagueis. I know it's basically proven already that he is humanoid. I mentioned it just to clarify the DV, Palpatine and Tarkin theories which are growing in popularity.

Elaborating on Rey's vision adds some more proof to the Snoke is Plagueis theory, interestingly. In Rey's vision upon touching Luke's lightsaber, we hear a roar that is distinctly familiar to the ROTS Palpatine spin roar (I like to call this the Sheev twirl, gets all the girl in the club! [face_laugh] ) . Here is a link to the roar sound from the Force Awakens vision: https://www.facebook.com/146284835497632/videos/848948588564583/ .

In addition to this, rumour has it, we hear Palpatine's cackles from ROTJ and Palpatine saying "Do it!" from ROTS. This is just hearsay, I will have to watch the full scene again to look out for these.

If this is true, I feel like it gives a Sith presence in the vision and the movie and it could indicate various things. Snoke being Plagueis would make sense since the vision may be a pivotal tool used for foreshadowing, perhaps being indicative of Snoke (Plagueis) wanting to turn her to the dark side and the ways of the Sith. It is my opinion that using dialogue and characters from the past should have relevance to the future, Palpatine's presence would only make sense if Snoke is Plagueis or Palpatine (practically impossible since he's not human). :)

Did anyone else notice that it sounded almost as if Kathleen was going to say "Snoke" when JJ cut her off in that awkward Comic Con panel session?

Host: Hello, what is your name, sir?
Jonathan: Hi, my name is Jonathan.
Host: And what is your question, Jonathan?
Jonathan: Is there going to be any mention of Darth Plagueis in Episode 7? Maybe surrounding a certain staff that someone finds?
    Kathleen: *sigh* Is that Sn...
JJ: Larry, hrmm, do you want to answer that?
Larry: Eh, I don't think I heard correctly. Is it Darth Vegas? Like Las Vegas?
    Kathleen: Heh!
    Daisy: Hahaha!
    Larry: Darth... Vader?
JJ: No, Larry is messing with you. I don't think we want to be talking about story too much too soon, but, aah, I will say... no!

It's after 38 minutes in this clip.

    My goodness.

First of all, it's Daisy Ridley who says "Is that...?"

And secondly, there is no "sn" after she says "Is that...?"

I forgot about that unintentionally morbid line from Chris Hardwick:

"You're going to all follow these stormtroopers in an orderly fashion."

I definitely sensed an awkward silence there after the question. And then Larry acts as though he's never heard of the name before.

And J.J. goes on to answer the question with an awkward, reluctant sounding "no," which is technically correct as the name Plagueis is never mentioned.

I think we are on to something.

If Snoke does turn out to be Plagueis then this will be looked at as one of those weird hints they give out like in Doctor Who where Mr. Saxon was Master No. 6.

The public face of Sidious was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.

So could the public face of Plagueis be Supreme Leader Snoke?

Snoke doesn't strike me as someone who is out in "public" very much. I believe he's operated in the shadows for his entire existence.

Which is my point. Obviously he is known as the leader of the First Order. Leia and Han and many others in the Republic know of Snoke as a figure and one connected to the Dark Side. Besides that public face however what more is there?

Though I noted the Supreme titles of Palpatine and Snoke it doesn't just relate to the Republic version of the same but as Emperor Palpatine he wasn't known as being other than the role he had played for decades.

Oh god. Not everything is a secret or a giant conspiracy. Maybe Daisy never heard of Mr. "was mentioned once in Episode 3 in a 3 minute scene".

I think we missed a big clue about Rey's staff. First of all, for an 'insignificant' object, it had far too much screen time. It was shown a lot. But if you notice in the main Force Awakens poster, it appears that Rey is opening her staff and a red beam seems to be protruding from the centre but is camouflaged against the background and surrounding action. Also, it appears there is a red beam along the shaft of the staff. I don't know if this has been mentioned already but I noticed it this morning on my Force Awakens alarm clock [face_laugh].

I know there is some significance in that staff and I still believe it is Darth Plagueis' lightsaber-staff. After all, she is without a lightsaber now after returning it to Luke.

Here is a comparison of the two (even disbelievers can't deny the similarity):

Listen to it again, she definitely makes a noise that sounds like an s sound. I don't hear an n, but the s is clear. Whether or not she was about to say "Is that Snoke", or "Is that something I should answer" is up for debate. The abruptness of JJ's interruption, though, is jarring.
