Awards 2007 Fan Fiction Awards - Volunteer Sign-ups (now closed)

Hi, I'd be interested in being an Era Host (preferably the Saga since I'm most knowledgeable in it), Help Desk, or even Overseer if you don't have anyone (I have alot of time on my hands this summer).

Otherwise, if you've filled those and still need help for a certain position, please feel free to let me know!

I'd like to volunteer if there are any places left. From past experience, my stories are unlikely to be nominated any way. It would be my first time doing something like this, though.

i just found out about a coast to coast vacation, that will be eating my summer alive

I'll be out of town here and there for the next couple of months, but I'm volunteering for the Help Desk if we need extra hands. I like markups.

 

I could work the help desk too. I can't let Jade have all the fun!

 

I'd be happy to help as a grunt in whichever era I'm needed most. I did it last year and following orders seems to suit me. I prefer checking story eligibility and excerpt coding, but I'm willing to do whatever needs to be done. Just not hosting. I'm not that insane.

 

I can probably Help Desk it up if necessary. I may or may not have a cross-country move this summer (dependent on interviews- yikes!), so I don't want to sign up for anything too time intensive. But I like answering questions.

 

This is exciting1 I might be going to Celebration Europe in July, 13th - 15th. There might also be a holiday sceduled sometime in the summer, but I'll let you guys know when that's decided.

 

It'll be my first convension if I get to go. As I'm also a fan of antropormorphic art, I'd like to go to one of those convensions too, but I've never heard of one happening in the UK. I had to miss the Celebration 4 because, obviously, it was in LA, so when I heard about the London one, I thought hey, I've got to go to that one.

 

I'll volunteer for saga host if there;s still room.

I must be blind, I didn't notice this thread until just now! I vowed to help out on the awards this time around, so I'll pony up.

Although I'm poodoo at mark-ups and coding; I'm more than willing to be a "grunt" along the lines of nomination/vote counting, or eligibility checking and such in the Saga era, just to get my feet wet in the whole process.

I'd do entertainment, but I can't be funny on demand. Anymore.

Well, if you need anyone, I'd be glad to do grunt work/volunteer for Beyond. No entertainment for me though!

 

Like somebody else mentioned earlier, I'm probably signing my stress warrant considering that I'm working a very stressful and demanding job at the moment, but I'll volunteer to be a grunt for Before. I had a lot of fun doing that last year and made some friends through the process (Hiya Jaya!).

I do have a question though: I know our stories aren't eligible in the eras we volunteer in, but are the volunteers in that particular era still allowed to nominate stories in that era?

 

I think that you are, you're just not supposed to count your own

 

As far as I'm aware, it IS allowable, so long as someone else tallies your nominations.

 

Yes, that is my experience. Last year, I had several nominations qualify in the saga where I volunteered and I was simply asked by the host to not participate in the vote-counting after the qualifying round began.
