Here's all the events (so far) for October this year. There may be more added along the way, so be sure to read past this post in case I make an update. If you want to be sure to catch everything, be sure to join our facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/chattooine/?ref=bookmarks

Oct 3: Ronald McDonald House autumn fall festival
We did this last year and they asked us to come back! The Ronald McDonald House would like us to come down and help with their Autumn Festival. The costumes are superhero themed. This is an outdoor event that lasts both Saturday and Sunday. We're for sure doing Saturday and if there's enough interest, we can do Sunday as well. There will be a changing tent and snacks along with a food voucher provided by the festival.

Oct 9: movie premier - PAN
For this movie, we're looking for pirates, lost boys, fairies, and anything else that would live in Neverland! If you can't dress up, but still want to help out, please contact Rickie Blevins or Nicole Price about being a handler and we'll fill you in on what's required to be one of our dedicated helpers for the group while we're out in public!

    Oct 10: UTC football game

We've been invited to a UTC football game this season! They're asking for superhero and villain characters to tailgate, create the victory lane when the team goes on the field, go out with the team captains for the coin toss, do fun stuff with the mascot, band, and cheerleaders, and raid the skyboxes like we do at the Lookouts games.

    Oct 12: monthly Chattooine meeting
Held at Carmike East Ridge theater at 6:30pm in the party room.

Oct 16: Boo at the Zoo - mixed theme night
We're still discussing themes with the zoo this year, but we'll have multiple nights (as you'll see below) and multiple costume themes. As soon as it's worked out, I'll make another post about it. The zoo might also be changing the dates (doing three Fri/Sat weekends instead of two Fri/Sat/Sun weekends). Until it's officially changed, I'll post what the original plan from them was...

Oct 16: Back to the Future marathon
Held at Carmike East Ridge theater, we're planning on dressing in BttF attire or ANY time travelling book/movie costumes for a fun night. So Terminator, Rick & Morty, Bill & Ted, Doctor Who... whatever!!

Oct 17: Boo at the Zoo - sci-fi night

Oct 18: Boo at the Zoo - pirates & princesses

Oct 23: Boo at the Zoo - '80's night

Oct 24: Boo at the Zoo - superhero night

Oct 25: Boo at the Zoo - cartoon/anime night

Oct 30: Tennessee Aquarium Halloween party
The Aquarium would like us down for the halloween party. The event is superhero/marvel themed so those are definitely the preferred costumes. UPDATE - Disney characters or princesses are also needed for this event, so spread the word for some princess action also!

Oct 31: movie premier - Scouts vs Zombies
This is another movie where we can have some creative fun! Be a scout (girl or boy) zombie hunter, a zombie, a scout zombie, or any other fun movie monster... make something up, or go with something more well established. Don't be afraid to ask for help coming up with something awesome!

Again, some of these dates/themes of the Boo at the Zoo events may change. Plus there's talk of other events being added as alternatives.

    Addendum/Edit!!

Here's an updated listing of October events... Naturally, there's even more events happening!

Oct 1: movie premier: Attack on Titan (part 1)

We're collaborating with Anime Blast Chattanooga to put together an awesome costuming event for the release of the Attack on Titan movie. This is for "part 1". Part 2 will be on another date...

Oct 3: Ronald McDonald House autumn fall festival

We did this last year and they asked us to come back! The Ronald McDonald House would like us to come down and help with their Autumn Festival. The costumes are superhero themed. Oct 12: monthly Chattooine meeting

Oct 21: Back to the Future marathon

Oct 23: Boo at the Zoo - '80's night

Oct 24: Boo at the Zoo - superhero night

Oct 30: Boo at the Zoo - cartoon/anime nightWe know that we have 2 events booked, so we're teaming up again with Anime Blast Chattanooga to help cover this, so... pick whichever event you like! This or the Aquarium.

Oct 31: Boo at the Zoo - mixed theme nightSince we have a movie premier at Carmike (see above) that's zombie related, we'll also have another night at the zoo for all those that don't have zombie costumes and want to wear whatever they'd like (as long as the zoo would be cool with it). Since it's mixed theme night, this should also allow you to leave the zoo and go to whatever other Halloween plans you might have and not have to change!

The Oct 31: Scouts vs Zombies premier has been cancelled. Between the Zoo event and because it's Halloween, it's just too much happening that night.

Aside from that, tomorrow kicks off the first zoo event of the season. Pirates and Princesses (although any Disney character is welcome, along with pirates, of course).

To recap what's already happened this month, the Attack on Titan (part 1) premier saw many AoT characters along with other anime characters. Special thanks to friends with Anime Blast Chattanooga that helped spread the word and got even more costumers there.

The Ronald McDonald House fall festival was pushed back a week because of rain. On Oct 9th, we pirated up for the premier of PAN. Didn't see it. Heard it wasn't all that great, but that doesn't matter. We had fun with it. The next day, we did our very first Chattanooga Mocs football game. We superheroed up and hung out with the early tailgaters under the pavilion (it was raining) for a while until it got close to game time. The rain let up and we took to the field to welcome the players as they exited the player tunnel (which was very cool). As the game was played, we mingled with the fans, threw some free Mocs shirts out to the crowd, and Batgirl even participated in a "kick, pass, and punt" competition at halftime. We checked in with the partiers under the pavilion for a bit before wrapping it up since we had the rescheduled Ronald McDonald House fall festival to go to as well. However, due to the rain (and how muddy the field was where everyone was to park), they cancelled that day and decided to hold it on Sunday instead. So the next day, we gain donned our superhero costumes and had fun with the large crowds that came out for the annual charity event. Both the scheduled Disney Princesses and 501st Legion groups cancelled, so we were in high demand! This has become one of our favorite events and the organizers already asked us to come back next year. The next day was our monthly meeting at the Carmike Theater in East Ridge. Since it was October, it was also a costumed meeting. TRADITION! I think it was our biggest costumed meeting yet! Afterward, several members went to Olive Garden. Whew! 4 days of costuming in a row... and we haven't even started our Boo at the Zoo events yet! Speaking of, two more events popped up for those that want something to do on the weekends...

Oct 17: 2015 Chattanooga "Volunteer A Voice!" Walk for Apraxia
This is a fundraiser walk for the CASANA. CASANA is the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA). CASANA is the only national 501(c)3 nonprofit public charity exclusively dedicated to children with apraxia of speech and their families.
    11:30am-2:00pm at the Chattanooga Riverpark

Oct 24: 2015 Hydrocephalus Association WALK
We did this one last year and was a fun event. Although the times are 9-2pm, we only stayed until the walk started, so this one's maybe a 2 hour event at most. The funds raised with the WALK will help HA continue to provide support and education to all those living with the challenges of hydrocephalus. In addition, money raised with HA’s WALK program will allow it to expand its investment in research to improve the lives of the millions of Americans affected by hydrocephalus and to find a cure for this complex life threatening condition. Because of your support and the support of many others like you, HA is currently the largest non-profit, non-governmental funder of hydrocephalus research in the United States.
9:00am-2:00pm at AT&T Field (where the Chattanooga Lookouts play)
