Sadly, I miss the first few episodes of every season, as my wife isn't a big fan, too violent for her. Then I read or hear that the new season is great, and start watch religiously from about the 5th episode on. Thus my Kate-ignorance.

Just checked the episoide recap on fox.com, thanks for the heads up. Like I said, she was one of my favorite characters, was disappointed when she didn't show up in Season 3.

    ..ugh, i hated Kate...

In fact, i've hated EVERY good-girl love interest for Jack..

It's so nice to know that, if they're a love interest for Jack, the odds are pretty good that that person will not be around for very long..

Good episode last night, lots of action and twists.

Wow, Dianne's speech about loving Jack "accepting him for who he is" was like a slug to Audrey's chest. And it looked like Dianne figured out Audrey had/has feelings for Jack. Looks like we may get a catfight some time this season. My money is on Dianne, the Redhead with the Right Hook!

I was disappointed that they had the "Sunday on 24" misleading preview with the scene of Jack shouting at Mike Novick about the helicopter during the playoff games...that's obviously next week.

So Walt's been outed, and the First Lady's on the lam. I wonder what Walt's motive is? He could have a Russian heritage, or be getting paid off.

The way Jack's assasin died...holy cow.

And I do think Spencer was just an unwitting pawn.

It was very odd...to be watching 24 then have Kiefer's voice-over on a Verizon commercial during the broadcast. Stereo Jack.

Kiefer's voice on the Verizon commercial caught me a little off guard but was kind of interesting. Another great episode it looked like in the scenes for next week's episode someone is having a run in with nerve gas and it's not pretty.

I haven't heard Kiefer on a Verizon commercial. He does do the voiceover in a new Mac commercial though.

I wonder if we're going to be seeing Wayne again, it seems the season's already moved away from the Palmer assassination angle. Speaking of that, I am not buying that Jack would be cleared as a suspect so quickly. They have evidence that he broke into the building that Palmer was shot from, and Jack hasn't even given them an alibi. Come on.

Dianne and Derek are his alibi. I'm sure there'll be a deleted scene where they tell McGill or Buchanan exactly where Jack was when Palmer was shot.

Speaking of Derek, I get the feeling that he did some snooping into Jack's past and may have inadvertently alerted Cummings to the truth about Jack.

...okay the real question is how and when Edgar is gonna snap..

Is he gonna go on a killing spree of some sort?

Edgar is quickly becoming one of the more entertaining characters on the show...

Curtis currently is leading the "coolest guy" category, at least until Tony Wakes up.

Spenser was the "Most obvious mole/pawn in history" on the show, even though the 'twist' of having him be unaware that he was being used was....well... kind of a twist.

CTU and the President both need to improve that security screening process.

    ^ Edgar is either...

    A.) Going to postal.

    or

B.) He and Chloe are going to realize they are meant for one another... and then Jack will inadvertently get them killed.

    Yeah..

    Chloe: Where are you going?

    Edgar: Not now!

Chloe: Since when do you say 'not now'?

    [face_laugh]

Have I mentioned that Logan is a gigantic jackass for not listening to his wife?

I have a feeling that Elizabeth may play a role in getting Cummings.

Well Edgar didn't go nuts when his Mom died so I think he'll be ok. I do hope he and Chloe get together tho. That would be classic.. and then they will both die of course

All I got to say was that was a great scissor trick that Jack pulled off. Always thinking of creative ways of killing a baddie.

OK, I just now realized that Jack's would-be assasin was the right-hand guy of Yellow Tie Man.

Going back and looking at the promos for Season 5, it kinds of dissapoints me what direction the season has already taken. It looked like it was going to be more personal against Jack than anything else. Now the much-hyped "Most Wanted Man Alive" plotline has already run it's course and we're simply back to another terrorist threat against the US. It's still damn good stuff, but a little dissapointing.

It does seem that it melted away pretty quick, but then I think it went by fast because we had 2 episode blocks on consecutive nights.

But I don't think Jack's wanted-man status is completely resolved yet *cough* China *cough*

It's hardly over-Look at the previews for this Monday's show and it's blatant that Jack is still wanted by the government. Secret Service saying they have orders from the President to take Jack into custody doesn't exactly paint a picture of acceptance from the government.

I agree, it seems like even though CTU may have cleared Jack the government certainly hasnt.

And as far as this season turning into just another terrorist plot, Ive read that that whole storyline takes a drastic turn in the next couple of episodes, so it may not be as generic as it seems to be on the surface.

Speaking of Cummings, Im very surprised that Jack and CTU found out that he was the mole so quickly. Now that he's been outed Im curious to see where they go from here. Will he be revealed to be merely a small cog in a much larger conspiracy, or will he be this season's Marwan, where they know who theyre going after but he manages to get away and still go ahead with his plans for the day ?

Well Cummings tipped his hand first by altering the Palmer call, then mugging the First Lady. So it must be important enough to put his cover in jeopardy. But I think he still has a lot of pull in that he's not only the President's COS, he's Logan's best friend. Seems like Logan would trust Cummings first, Mike second (and don't forget, Mike is a Democrat serving a Republican President). I think he could convince Logan he had to try to 'eliminate' Jack for some reason.

Personally I just don't get the feeling that he's the mastermind behind all of this, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

I would like to know exactly when he turned. Was it before the events of Season 4? Or has he just taken extreme advantage of Logan looking the other way since Logan took office?

I assume the plan hinges on taking advantage of Logan's weaknesses as a leader to deal with crises, otherwise he easily could have arranged for Logan to be assasinated as well.

I know spoilers about Walt Cummings so I'm not going to say anything, but be prepared to have this entire season turned upside down and twisted about by the time we're through. Things are never what they seem with this show.

Did you watch the prequel that was on the season 4 box set? The bad guys learn Jack is alive in that prequel and that prequel takes place before Jack meets Derek and Diane.
