But ya never know, the explanation could have something to do with clowns....

 

No clowns, I'm afraid the explanation is just a simple play on words (=names?). A little ironic though...I chose that board name back in 2002, without even imagining I would ever be living on the frozen tundra of South Dakota. Tauntaun indeed!

Well, if I must..

Back in the days of dial-up, when everyone on America Online had to pay by the hour (!!) I was a teeny-bopper high school kid who was somewhat obsessed with anime. Alright, so it was Sailor Moon, and Sailor Mercury was definitely my favorite. So I decided I needed a screenname that announced my love of Sailor Mercury. So Merc Sailor. It was basically the only way to get that and not have numbers.
(incidently, I was originally ViolinGirl on AOL.. I don't know how I got that name and no numbers! Maybe it has something to do with it being 1994)

Anyway, it stuck. Largely because it's unique. I've never had a problem anywhere registering with that name, so.. it's just become my online persona across the board.. Of course, most people think that it has to do with being in the Navy, or Merchant Marines or something of that nature. nope. just me being geeky.

 

i just thought you were a mercenary of the high seas.

 

It just dawned on me (am doing research for even more geeky statistics)
am pretty sure that

has yet to respond to this thread.

perhaps it is just a simply over-sight,

of an easy explanation

and not a long "saga" of complicated, frozen and painful memories
