A Jedi Shall Not Know Anger, Nor Hatred, Nor Love...

Valyn, I think it was the tag line for the 1st movie IIRC.

 

I think the Not know anger, etc is more of a goal than a rule. Jedi strive to keep these emotions under control to avoid potential problems with the dark side. I think it is better to say "The Jedi may know love but it isn't a good idea".

 

I'm going to take a odd stance here but is Love a good thing? I know as a Christian love thy neighbor and all but I don't think that's what the Jedi mean by this.

Basically speaking why should a Jedi love a child or a daughter or a wife more than he loves his fellow human beings (or Hoojib or Zelton etc)?

I mean honestly speaking isn't more to the Jedi ideal that they treat all beings equally and fairly?

 

I just think it is more of a 'it can lead to problems' kind of thing.

 

Well it's really two sides of the same coin isn't it?

i heard that the closer one gets to god the more of his will you learn- and his will is so strong that it makes a jedi mind trick like kids stuff. to resist is impossible, at a point, so the angels of god, being his right hand men, so to speak, are virtual slaves. interesting connection there.

What does IIRC stand for?

"There is no knowledge that is not power" does not seem appropriate for the first Mortal Kombat film. I mean, knowledge didn't really seem to play any obvious role in the outcome of the conflict. Err...did it?
