Who's point of view is it when the "Anor's eyes" mistake is made? If its not Nom's own, then it could easily be written off as the character not knowing about the bol, and just thinking that its a disfigured eye.

    [face_thinking]

Whatever it is, though, I don't think its a big deal. We've had worse errors (wasn't Tam Azur-Jamin said to be a Duro once in the NJO?), and in the long run, this is very minor.

Nom Anor's plaeryn bol implant outwardly resembles a normal eye; in Star by Star, Jaina identifies him at long range because it's visibly larger, but this may be just a matter of the shape of his eye-sockets, and it may even represent a specific short-term swelling (didn't he use it or lose it in one of the earlier novels?)...

I'm pretty sure it can be removed, though; I think the Vector Prime cover may be meant to be a picture of him with his eye-socket empty...

It's from Boba's, iirc, and my reaction was more to this:

"I would have thought more attention would be paid to the smaller details"

Since we can see that the official pictures show him as visually having two eyes, it hardly seems fair to say the author made a mistake.

The Japanese cover may show Nom when his bol is active or something, but in terms of regular appearence, he has two eyes that are quite obvious in the official illustrations.

As you said though, it's a small thing, but if people are going to get distracted by small things and say the author got it wrong, it's worth it to show when those small things aren't wrong as well.

Just have a look at his left eye on the cover of TFP. I just noticed it when Boba was thinking about the way Nom looks without the masquer and he said the only normal thing about him were his eyes and teeth.

    I looked at it.

I also looked at the official pictures in the databank and the descriptions of him elsewhere.

Everything I've seen suggest that the eyes DO look normal until the bol manifests itself. I'm not certain of how it manifest to attack, but all accounts show it as looking rather normal until he use the bol.

Obviously, it seems to have thrown you out of the story at that point, and that's a shame, but looking at everything official it would seem the bol was meant to look like a regular eye, as several official pictures show him with two regular looking eyes, and I'll take that over the cover art of one book.

I get why it threw you out of the story, all I'm saying is that the official view of him looks to show that he has two normal looking eyes, so it's probably not a case of the author not doing the research into the "small things" as a simple difference in portrayal on a single cover, or that he simply has his bol in ready to go mode on the covers because it looks more dramatic.

    Who knows?

I'm just coming from the direction of someone who read the original statement and went; "wait, I could have sworn he really did have two eyes", and it looks like he's meant to have them.

Boba thinking about Nom's eyes doesn't bother me, but just to set the record straight, Nom Anor only has one real eye. He gouged out the other one with the sharpened end of a burning stick. The plaeryin bol creature he replaced his eye with looks very much like his real eye, but it is a separate organism and is removable. When it comes out, as happened once or twice at the beginning of the NJO, Anor just has one eye and an empty socket.

Fett probably didn't know about the plaeryin bol, and just assumed it to be a normal eye, which it closely resembles.

So, where do I get this book? I heard something about a Mando throttling a Scarhead and then scalping it. That alone makes this worth buying.

I got mine from Diesel. It allows international purchase. The Adobe version works fine with the Adobe 7 Reader.

Well, like with Triple Zero, I read this in a sleep-deprived haze. Still, pretty kriffing awesome. This was the first actual story I've read with Nom Anor and the Vong. The initial Vong revelation was pretty thrilling, although not really surprising. And Nom Anor's views of the Mandos nicely contrasted with their own PoVs.

There's a pretty long summary on Wookieepedia if anyone's interested.
