Not to mention that Palpatine wouldn't stand alone against both Jedi masters if he had the chance not to. He stands alone against Yoda because as he said he waited for a long time for this. Is almost personal.

Mmm I never interpreted that line as he was waiting forever to confront Yoda- I think that line meant that he had been waiting a long time for the Jedi to finally be destroyed and for the Empire to have taken hold. It's not like he wasn't relishing the chance to kill the biggest Jedi of them all but that line always was about his years of patience, planning, and scheming finally paying off and the Jedi finally being wiped out. I would be happy if I were him- after years of waiting to accomplish that big of a goal and succeeding some gloating is due. Definitely.

But even if Obi Wan keeps at a distance with a long range weapon, everyone still thinks he would be more hindrance than help to Yoda? He could even be hiding and look for an opportunity to ambush Sidious.

You're right about Yoda not gaining the high ground when he had the opportunity but the issue was that he needed to get to Sidious at close quarters which makes Sidious a lot more vulnerable- If Yoda hopped into one of the pods and rose up to Palpatine's level or got above him and started throwing pods at him Palpatine would have merely had the opportunity to drag things out further or to try to escape again which makes it harder for Yoda. Yoda threw the pod at him because he wanted to give him a taste of his own medicine and obviously to see if it would hit him lol. When it didn't he went to attack Palpatine at a closer distance again in order to prevent Palpatine from getting away from him again.

Palpatine definitely wanted the high ground with the pod fight though- it didn't matter exactly how high up he was as long as he was above Yoda and at a good distance away which he made sure of given he kept on moving his own pod away from Yoda as Yoda tries to advance up to his level. He is laughing because of how brilliantly simplistic the attack is- Yoda is extremely small and as long as Palpatine keeps the assault going there is little chance(at least in his mind) that Yoda will be able to get to his level without being hit by a pod which the action of dodging them exhausts him anyway. And yes Palpatine was throwing the pods downwards at Yoda which made his job way easier. Yoda on the other hand has to throw it upwards. Even with the Force there are still degrees of difficulty that are affected by normal factors such as gravity. Still there is no indication that Yoda would not be able to throw multiple pods down at Sidious- we've seen him perform incredible feats in telekinesis(the Battle Of Coruscant, lifting the X-Wing out of the swamp, him battling the droid army and Ventress on Rugosa). Yoda would have been able to easily match Palpatine's ability to throw the pods from if that was the strategy that he decided to utilize which he didn't. Doesn't mean he can't do it though.

I'm just going to say multiple interpretations are possible here, there's only so much we can decipher from the limited screen time of the fight with no verbal explanations, especially when we ourselves aren't force users lol.

Yoda didn't come close. He knocked Sidious back a little bit with the dark side, which only served to excite Sidious and leave him gleeful and cackling. Meanwhile, Yoda was thrown several stories to the ground and was obviously completely drained, in more ways than one. I'm not sure where this idea that Yoda almost beat Sidious comes from. It's very clear what the outcome was and why Yoda had to leave.

Also it's probably not realistic to assume that they would automatically be able to get a rematch with Sidious anyway. That is, I imagine security would have been tightened after Yoda was able to sneak in (and out) the first time. And even being present on Coruscant would probably be a fairly risky prospect for a pair of wanted fugitives.

I agree, once Yoda fell down to the bottom of the senate the chance was over. It's not like he was no match for Palpatine, the two were basically even, but it's pretty hard to deal with the Emperor when his soldiers are also around. In such a duel you can't afford any distractions, and the clones definately would have been one. You can sneak in on Palpatine once, but if you fail, the place will crawl with troopers who are aware of the threat, which prevents a second chance.

Really? It took all of Yoda's effort to control one of those flying podia, yet the Emperor was flinging dozens of them around, and having the time of his life doing so. Yoda got pwned, as another poster put it.

You can’t really judge how the fight was because of someone making a silly face. Palpatine was making that face because he knows it was about to blow. Yoda making a serious face doesn’t negate the fact that both of them still exploded. Even though Yoda was lighter you can’t fault Sidious for that. 4 Jedi Masters out weigh Palpatine by over 100 lbs but he still had to face them. It’s all part of the duel life.

Sidious also knocked Yoda out cold on his first lightning. If he wasn’t so overconfident and waited for Yoda to wake up so he can mock him…he would have easily stabbed the out cold Yoda in the first place.

Both Sidious vs Yoda was the ultimate stalemate. That’s the whole point of the Chosen One…to break that tie.

Having Yoda with a serious face only to be exploded himself is more heartbreaking because he gave it his all and still failed.

Yoda also told Qui-Gonn’s ghost that he’s not powerful enough to defeat Sidious.
