I wonder if Ackbar will take more like his book Version of Aftermath since he dosent have mutch screen time presence.

I remember in the original Thrawn trilogy he used political manipulation to try and keep Ackbar off the battlefield, so that is some fun context to them having a showdown here.

Yeah, Thrawn rated Ackbar as an adversary he did not wish to go up against.

Probably more Zahn’s version of Ackbar than the newer books. He had an interview with Screen Rant where he explained why he brought Ackbar in:

I love to see Ackbar's tacical mind vs Thrawn in the show and Filoni's movie. Like Sherlock and Moriarty.

I would not be adverse to one episode going full-on Doom with the camera shifting to first person Chopper's perspective as glorious mayham is unleashed.

    Some more comments from Filoni…

    On Ackbar:

    On Thrawn:

On Season 2 as a whole:

While I absolutely agree with what Filoni said about Thrawn bringing light to a dark time in SW publishing, very little about Thrawn's identity matches the word chaos. He is an alien, and he likes to outmaneuver his opponents, but he does not thrive on chaos. He has clear objectives. Even in Mist Encounter, he knew entirely what he was doing. The Imperials in that story were overwhelmed by someone who could out-play them in a land that was not their own. In the new Thrawn books, he often gets the upper hand simply by obtaining as much information about his opponents as possibile and playing to their weaknesses. But is it chaos? Not really. It's... very artistically done. Like Sherlock Holmes, he always explains his reasoning at the end. Calling him chaotic would be the equivalent of calling Holmes the same thing halfway through resolving a mystery, without allowing him to explain his methodology.

I sometimes love Filoni's take on Thrawn (Rebels did him very well), but he was completely out of character in the Ahsoka show. And I think it's because he's not properly understood.

I'm genuinely curious how the two story tracks are going to work. You've got Ahsoka and Sabine in the neighboring galaxy doing Mortis stuff presumably, and Hera and Ezra and Zeb in the GFFA dealing with Thrawn. How do you tie those together organically while none of these characters can crossover to each other?

How can Thrawn be such a huge threat and not also deal with the Han, Luke and Leia of it all? I feel like it stretches credulity that none of them would be directly involved in the fight and onscreen.

Re: Thrawn and chaos. I think his moves against the New Republic do cause chaos. He's trying to upend the new order in the galaxy. While he would replace it with his version of the Empire, what he's doing is sewing chaos. That's what he was doing in TTT, and it's what he would have to do in NuCanon as well.

I don’t want to speak out of school or anything, and this is just a rumour from the depths of the Internet, buuuut

There was a *leak from 2-3 weeks ago that stated Leia would actually be in an episode of season 2, alongside Mon Mothma and Hera discussing the Thrawn crisis.

I only give it a second glance because the same rumour also said Captain Enoch would have a fight scene with a bladed weapon, which the Celebration teaser did sort of show.

You can save Han Solo who is retired from military and Luke Skywalker who is off started his school busy to the big crossover movie.

Yeah, they’ve established that the character is at least backing the heroes.

The one thing would be the exact depiction and how they pull that off.

I would hope they get Billie Lourd. Sure she had the ST role, but we’ve also had Clancy Brown play multiple characters in live action. I could overlook it.

Now I think about it, what do you think the odds are of Luke and Ezra meeting this season?

I think they should just have Alden, Billie and Graham Hamilton take up the roles.

The deep fake stuff needs a lot of polish before it can do the heavy lifting it would need for any extended scenes. Billie Lourd could look more like Carrie than her Resistance character if needed. She already was the deep fake double for Leia on those Jedi training flashbacks.

Ackbar spent the first third of the Thrawn Trilogy being undermined by Fey'lya's political machinations, the middle third in a prison cell so he was out of the way while Thrawn was seeing the Katana Fleet and in the final third was too busy touring or manoeuvring the NR fleet towards eventually fighting at Bilbringi (of which only Thrawn being taken out by Rukh really saved him).
