ST Anakin Skywalker in the New Films

The stuff in the art book felt like good ideas from somebody who didn't really know how Star Wars works. A half Vader ghost sounds neat, but it totally goes against the ending to ROTJ and what George intended for. Anakin is not Jacob Marley carrying the chains of his many years of misdeeds. Anakin's ghost represents the good in him before he turned to the dark side.

Matt was in the movie funnily enough.

 

I initially was opposed to the idea of Ghost Vaderkin (not Anakin though), but seeing that concept art is very interesting. Also, with these movies I'm trying to drop any preconceived notions I have about what works and just have fun with what kind of ideas they come up with.

 

As I've stated previously, in the LB 1st draft of V, Luke has a dream of his father and Vader counseling him. This dream was replaced with the cave scene and of course Vader Daddy. I hope Ren dreams of Vader and Anakin's ghost appears.@

maybe an illusion to expose the lie of the dark side? he can appear how ever he wants, and a progression from a mask to a broken man could be quite evocative of the true nature of Anakin's turn.

Yup...and far too good to be consigned to a book.

 

i would really be against a half vader half anakin. that would be a jump the shark for me . he was redemed. if he's going to appear it should be possibly at the climax of the trilogy telling Kylo he's all wrong.

 

There is a precedent for this phenomenon in SWTOR. It's not canon, but it's a thing. After his death, Revan was split into two personalities because he was once both Jedi and Sith. Revan Reborn was the Sith side of him while the Jedi entity helped guide the Republic to defeating Revan Reborn. It is a very interesting concept when played out.

 

This movie had no problem portraying Han, Luke, and Leia out of character, diminishing their arcs in the OT. The movie had no problem undercutting the victories of the Rebel Alliance over the Empire either. They wouldn't hesitate bringing Vader back

 

If Anakin appears I hope he does so as light sided Anakin and not half Vader/Anakin.

 

I don't know, it's hard to say what Anakin/Vader should be character wise since we haven't seen him after death, like we did Obi Wan. So I think a more pertinent question is what should Anakin be that would best serve the story. I like the statement from Darth_Pevra that he shouldn't be like Jesus, even after death Anakin need not be a 'nice' guy. Heh, even some quotes from Jesus sound pretty vicious in my head.

One of the reasons why I feel intrigued by a scene with Anakin is that it seems to me to be a good tool to delve into the state of a character, for example, Kylo Ren. Even if this particular character would reject what Anakin would have to say, how Kylo rejects him, and how Anakin conveys himself, perhaps harshly, to his grandson, would have something to say about the characters. The scene would still serve a purpose in this regard.

 

As cool as it looks, this goes against all prior precedent for the character. Anakin was fully redeemed. A concept like this would be delving into the realm of both concept and character assassination if not utilized properly. But this film was so OOC for most of the characters, and regressive, that it wouldn't be a surprise if they did it anyway. There were all too many unwelcome yet expected, erm, choices made in this new film. I'd rather not see him at all if that were the case.

It is about time to turn the back on the whole "Vader was slave and victim to Palpatine" school of thought. There was no line in the OT about Vader being "fully redeemed" and it is almost ridiculous to say that about a genocidal mass murderer. The truth is that he was granted mercy by the force which doesn't mean his deeds should just be forgotten. You think all his victims would think that saving his son undoes all the violence he committed towards others?

I would love to see him give a stern lecture towards Kylo.

 

I think it could work if Kylo is being haunted by anakin and trying to keep him out of his head. Ghost anakin appearing in front of kylo and then waves him away like hes made of blue smoke.

 

I wouldn't mind Hayden being back as Anakin for Episode VIII or IX

He could serve as a turning point for Kylo

 

In episode 6 Vader read Luke's mind so mind reading isn't a new power.

I will say the force should be able to evolve as hinted in Tarkin Sidious was after reality bending.

I'd love Haydeen back. he's a good actor and I wanna see them flesh out Anakin post ROTJ. His arc is over, but he's still around. The lack of Yoda and Obi-Wan in TFA was sad. They're ghosts and should be hanging with Luke in 8,9 with Anakin. That alone would make 8 possibly better then 7 and 5 put together. Maybe even episode 6 but I won't go that far.

 

As much as I wasn't a fan of Hayden's previous portrayals of Anakin, I am kind of interested to see what he could do with the role with some better direction and a better script. Because I've seen him do decently in other non-SW projects before.

And I'm also interested in the idea of FG Anakin appearing before Ben and trying to talk him out of continuing down the same path that he (Anakin) did. Also, a FG Anakin/Luke conversation could be interesting.

 

Luke his uncle couldn't bring Ben back to the light, Han his own father couldn't bring Ben back to the light.....In desperation his mother turns to the one soul she probably never thought she'd ever beg for help, she asks the ghost of her father Anakin and Ben's idol to bring him back to the light.

 

I really hope not.

Thankfully, Disney are not stupid, they won't risk bringing him back knowing the issues with the prequels. Number 1 rule of buying a billion dollor franchise....don't do thngs the established fan base will hate. It's not happening.

Wouldn't shock me if masked Vader appears though, hinted in TFA when Kylo asks the mask to show him the power of the darkness 'again'. Suggests it's happened and I would have no issues with it.

 

If bet money that he will.
