I hope it's not all Snoke and mirrors regarding the Supreme Leader's identity. :p

Ummm....I think there is a new possibility for Snoke's species. We recently had a series of real bad thunderstorms at my house and I ended up unplugging the router and computers (not going to replace them again) and to kill the time I picked up Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Alien Species to see if anything stood out or resembled Snoke's description. Well, one did, big time. On top of that, the description for this species says they speak with "gravelly, chilling voices". The way they dress is also similar to the way Snoke dresses.

Umm, he can't be a Noghri can he?

I'm still trying to get my head around this character design myself. I entered "humanoid snake" into Google and although a few fairly interesting things popped up, I cannot really say I loved any of what I saw.

Whatever Snoke is, it would be something more humanoid than this, I gather:

And I imagine less "Star Trek-y" than this creature:

I really don't know. I suppose that after reading the description of Snoke, this is... 'close-ish' (maybe?) to what I'm kind of picturing:

Well, that is the thing about the Noghri, when you look at them head on you get something real close to that:

Though what gets me is in the old EU they are described as speaking like the voice we heard in the first trailer. A gravelly and chilling voice. [face_dunno]

    I just don't know.

Vader's burnt helmet is a reference to the whole saga.

As if the galaxy would be going back to prequel technology for the sequels. Of course the OT has more influence.

I guarantee Snoke's design is NOT already out there, especially in a SW guide book. I doubt he will even be on any of the marketing material, and probably won't get a figure until well after the movie is out.

From the look of this leaked figure I hope this is NOT him:

So, from left to right, we appear to have: Ralph Wiggum in his Darth Vader costume; an undercover gimp; and Rey's angry feminist Aunt? :p

In the foreground, one of the members of "Daft Punk" appears to have just become one with the Force, and all that's been left behind is his helmet.

This was probably pointed out before. But just in case:

The figure on the left is a 'rhino trooper', briefly visible in the background at the Starkiller Base in teaser 2.

I know the old 'judge me by my size do you?" Yoda adage is pertinent. But I really do hope the design team make Snoke a very imposing figure. To actually have him physically look down on Kylo when they meet. Not overtly like he's 10 feet tall or anything like that, but just enough so he assumes dominance from the outset.

His voice would lead one to think he's quite an imposing figure, in every way. I'm really hoping for an iconic design for Snoke.

Similar to the Emperor concept art. Long fingers/ tall slim frame/ the outfit will be different and his facial features different. I hope he has the zombie look.

Yes, they're both real, both by McQuarrie. IIRC, the more human, Palpatine-esque version is the second version, and was done because it was felt that the first version was too far removed from the finished screen Emperor.

    Edit:

Just found this article on the subject:

    http://starwarsaficionado.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/classic-art-mcquarries-emperor.html?m=1

    Edit 2:

It just hit me that the 'alien' Emperor here has something like the high 'Dracula' collar that MSW described in Snoke. Well, it's either a collar, or long, Yoda like ears. Hard to tell.

Falleen is the perfect race for Snoke. They definitely fit the "humanoid snake" criteria and look badass. Prince Xizor was a Falleen.
