I would be more then happy to pay $600 if it was all together, we spent 3 times (if not longer) putting our Snowtroopers together then vacuforming it [face_plain]

DH also wants a Stormtrooper, I want a Biker Scout & we both want Sand people costumes, I want the female one. So P-Josh, you need to start working on the baby I need for my costume :p [face_devil] hehehehehe

P.S. this thread, once again, is way off topic. I am working with the 501st POC to orginize the 7/10 & 11th thingy. Also working on the restoration plans with Tim & ZOO today, anyone else want to help the meeting is at Tims.

If I don't answer a PM within a couple of days feel free to email (addy in bio) or call.
    Thanks

The cheapest I can get TK armor for is $450, but I have to jump through flaming hoops to get it. I might have to sacrifice a cat, too. Anybody know anyone whose cat has just had kittens?

Scouts...I'm here. Still gotta do the final casts on the chestplate -- there's a few things I still don't like about it. Won't be too hard to do a female mod for it. I need a new female torso cast...can probably convince Rachel to sit still for an hour.

And Tuskens...W-Josh, have you found the material yet? We were gonna check out fabric yesterday, but sorta got there too late.

Josh, I still have yet to make it to the fabric store myself. I will grab some samples to have for the 10th, I'll let you take them with you so you can see if you like them. I could mail them to W-Josh :D

Uhm, was going to say something else but the voices in my head made me forget :D

I think it will be difficult to do a 'quality' Trooper for less than the $550-$600 range. Good luck, though...

John, did you receive my pm/email?

What are the requirements to join the 501st? Does it cost money?

    It doesn't cost money.

You just need to be 18 and have to have a costume that fits their requirements, if you go to www.mg501.com they have links for how to join and all the information and paperwork you need to fill out is there

    hope that helps!

Birrer...I'd stay away from the icky thin plastic stuff -- no telling where it's been. :D And if he's not using quality plastic, chances are the casts he made aren't very good either. [face_plain]

BFett88...once you have yer Fett done, just need to take pics with the costume on...1 with helmet on, and 1 with the helmet off. And then send them in. That's pretty much it. Any non-Rebel costume works (Rebels have http://www.rebellegion.com ...although I'm not sure how Tuskens...who are anti-everything...fit into the mold. [face_devil]

And yes, it's hard pulling together a somewhat-almost-comfortable-to-wear Stormtrooper for less than $600. Even with armor at $450, you still need boots...around $60-80, gloves...around $20-40, bodysuit...$40-80, helmet mods so you can actually see, breathe, and talk...$40-prices that are astronomical depending on how geeked you want it, and more. It took a few month before mine was really wearable.

I believe Tuskens fall under the 'Denizens of the Empire' (alien scum & villainy) moniker, complete with the DZ designation in lieu of a TK call sign.

I might be interested in the crappy thin stormtrooper armour from the guy in New York. I'd rather have good stuff but I don't want to do a normal trooper. I don't even need the boots for it. Sandals will work just fine. ----Yes it will be a very different trooper!

    Peace!!!!

That'd work fine for that. I've thought about getting a cheap set to convert into Swamptrooper armor someday. Or paint up in flames, or some camo with a big Rebel symbol on the front...like in...I forget which comic -- but there was a Scout that had defected and he mounted horns on his helmet and wore a cloak that looked like a Klingon cloak. :D

On the note of Trooper armour, my heartfelt suggestion is that ya'll pool yur resources, make one drop-dead perfect set of molds, and use thin polycarbonate to make yur own superlightweight armour that is tough as POO_DOO! Lexan can now be had in white, black, grey and optical clear as standard colors, and is very easy to work with a heatgun. You folks are the RMFF and the 501st & deserve the best, not somebody else's crappy reperductions!

    *wets self*

I even played with some white Lexan when I was at Plasticare. How well does it vac-form?

Although...I really don't need to start another project right now...ROFL.

Unless yur forming it from scratch, it's just like heating and working any other plastic....vac-forming should not be an issue.....they do it all the time on experimental aircraft canopies.
