Saga Army of One Man? (2009 Dear Diary Challenge - Final Update 12/31/09)

AWESOME!!! I think I'm getting it figured out and then the next post comes and I have to rethink everything! Keep up the great work!

Whoa, I missed a few posts there. But now that I'm all caught up... You're taking this in an intriguing direction, ale. It's a nice use of our diary perspective. From the beginning, he's been a biased narrator, but now he's unreliable even to himself, which is fascinating to watch.

Poor Gal, though. Finding out that all the people you know and like were imaginary is horrible.

Got some good news today. Except for my ?episodes? of imaginary combat missions, they say I?m fit to fight. I should be happy about it, but I?m just too disoriented by what has been going on?

Great. He paused for a bathroom break. The guy should really learn how to manage his time better.

Woah!! I really want to know if they're trying to cover something up or if the illusion was just too good. Very interesting!!

JOURNAL MARKER: 1,054 days after the Battle of Geonosis

I don't know why I feel the desire to continue. I'm not sure how my doctors and other superiors will react to me continuing to keep this journal. After my last bio-scan they told me it was no longer necessary.

"Superior-speak": Cease and desist.

I've been reassigned to another squad. I have been made the unit's sergeant after their previous had apparently died from a wound received in a live-fire exercise. The company's captain says it became infected while out in the field, and he died before the squad returned from their field mission.

We are definitely NOT on Kamino. All environmental exercises were holo generated. Here there are actual jungles, beaches, mountains, and urban replica environments.

The Captain says I was made squad leader due to my combat experience.


I thought brain scans had been determined that I had hallucinated my previous squad and missions...

 

Gah, Ale, you keep confusing me.
If I didn't believe it was on puropse I'd give you 'cease and desist', too.

So he doewsn't know if it was real or not. Maybe there's a major cover-up for some secret mission going on.

I want more!

Entry 10:

1,058 days after the Battle of Geonosis


I don?t know how to react to my new squad. We are all born with designations, but only the Kaminoans and certain personnel addressed us by our designation. Amongst ourselves, we all had nicknames, or call signs. Well, I should say most of us did anyway.

The clones I trained with, most of us saw it as a rite of passage. You see, we looked alike, and acted alike, but in the sense of thinking ? save for strategic planning ? none of us think alike. We?re individuals, and except for our unwavering loyalty to the Republic, we have individual personalities.

These guys though, they have a single mindset, and zero personality. During our first day together, I took roll call, and then asked them for their call signs. Trooper TA-16/6661 informed me that he did not understand my particular jargon. I think he believed I was referring to hand signals. It was then I realized that they had no idea what I was talking about.

I don?t care what upper echelon claims, these are not the same strain of clones I imagined and/or trained with. They aren?t bad soldiers per se, just rigid in their sense of direction. They?re not stupid, not in the least.

I just think they?re visors are very one-dimensional if you know what I mean.

 

Barely into the third(?) year of the war, and already we see the denigration toward redshirt-stormtrooper begin. Ohh dear.

 

Love it! Still can't figure it out. Very intriguing.
