In the comic "Obsession", Anakin believes to have Ventress killed already on Coruscant, whereas Obi-Wan still deems her alive. Does anybody know, in which comic Anakin "killed" Ventress on Coruscant?

Obi found evidence that Ventress was alive in Obession, Skywalker was enraged as he beleived he killed her, she was still alive in a Bacta tank being nursed back to health .

This is what you're taking about:

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Duel_in_the_Coruscant_Underlevels

Should be found in Dark Horse's Star Wars Omnibus Clone Wars Volume 2.

    Thank you, dude,

So this is in "Dreadnaughts of Rendilli". There is also a hint on TCW-series in your link but AFAIK at the end of season five, Anakin threatened to kill her but even if there is another attempt on his behalf in the lost TCW-missions, Anakin's wowes will turn out to be as Ventress put it in the end of season five: Empty promises. :D

darskpine10 Indeed. I loved the scale of the earlier seasons of the show. It just felt small after several arcs that were only about Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka. I am not gonna hog this thread about a topic that is painful for me and not so much about Ventress, but the main trio wasted a lot of arcs they were in due to the fact that they were there and yet nothing was expanded or advanced about them. Most vile offender was the inclusion of Anakin and Ahsoka in the Mon Calamari arc.

It is hard to make her like what she in those comics due to the limitations of the format. In those comics, like many other elements, she was cooler than Vader. She rode a rancor to victory. That is just too epic!
Her depiction in earlier season fit well with how other villains were portrayed and acted. If she was this powerhouse of a villain and then you have Grievous, Lok Durd and Mar Tuuk then it would look out of balance. The show's creators wanted villains that always lose and she was no exception.
She got expanded, but that is only cause Lucas wanted to somehow bring Maul into the show and she was lucky to be chosen by him for the job. The result was interesting and something that should have had a bigger presence before the "murder by Disney" and not end in a book. I am really curious what will unfold about her in this upcoming novel.

If only the CW cartoon gave us Ventress or other Nightsisters riding Rancors - what a cool element of the EU to be left out of the series.

I just read "Obsession". Does anybody know what happened in #50 to Ventress ' right eye? It is shining like that missing eye of the Egypt ancient queen Nofretete. Or is that such an implantate aka cyborg-amplifications.

Yeah, it was a cybernetic implant.

Mind you, these questions are better suited to Lit.

Yes, I am necro-ing this thread.

Because this video popped up on my YouTube feed.

    It's old, it's pre-Bounty, but I don't care.

    Some good, pre-bad-hair, pre-Vos-bull****, Asajj goodness. [face_love]

My favorite line delivered by Asajj is this: "My master abandoned me, and that's exactly what you did to her [Ahsoka]...you and your precious Jedi Order!" Asajj had a great voice for the series. So jaded/cynical, but also sad and mischievous. I felt sorry for her at times and scared during others. One of my favorite characters during the show's run.

I have many, many favorite Asajj quotes and exchanges.

"Ventress. And here I thought this mission would be unpleasant."
"The pleasure is all mine, my dear Obi-Wan. I've missed you."

    "Come and get me, boys."

"If it isn't Skywalker's filthy obnoxious little pet. Stand down, little girl, and I'll give you a cookie."

"Keep playing with your droids. I'll handle breaking into the DNA room."

"Do you think you'll still be able to call upon the Force after I've separated your head from your body?"

Obi-Wan: "When did you become the good guy?"
    Asajj: "Don't insult me."

"My dear General, there's nothing you have that I could want."

Asajj: "I was beginning to think my presence went unnoticed."
Anakin: "You weren't planning on leaving without saying Hello, were you?"

"I'm not much of a talker."

*sigh* And yes, Nika Futterman's voice... [face_love]

Ventress is one of the few female characters I genuinely liked, and that didnt seem force fed as some sorta politic or whatever. She was a legit villain but female. She wont be easily forgotten as the years come and go and never replaced.

You're right, and I've talked about this in other discussions. So many female characters in Star Wars are written as "Look! Girl character! Watch her ROAR! Oh, you think she is overdone? Do you just NOT LIKE GIRL CHARACTERS?!?" It's because I'm a feminist that I hate the idea that a woman character must be really out there/promoted/in your face--as you said, force fed--in order to be taken seriously. That's bull****. Women characters are capable of holding their own in a story as much as male ones are, without being thrown in our faces.

Asajj is one of few women characters who is not written in that in-your-face "if you hate me you just HATE WOMEN" agenda-filled manner. Leia is another one.

I don't like when they cut stuff out, they should atleast release extended edition DVDs and canonize such material.

Would've been one of Ventress's best lines and scenes, "Not even close!"

Well, it was technically never really cut out in the first place since it wasn't completed for inclusion in the final product, but it would have been great if they had finished that part and included it in the episode (which already is listed as a Director's Cut on the DVD & BD if i recall correctly so it's definitely a missed opportunity).

I agree. Asajj has relatable reasons for what she's doing. Whether in the comics/novels or in TCW, she's an abused character just trying to find her way. She's not just a piece of meat like many female characters are.

And, Vorax, they should have left that in.

Sometimes I wonder why Ventress is so popular. I mean, she was made up for the animated series' (plural) and never featured in main film canon, regulalrly goes up against canonically high-end characters like Anakin and holds her own, gets a lot of focus and development and most of the best lines in any given episode she appears in. She really sounds like she ought to be a creator's pet/insert like Ahsoka is accused of being, if I am honest. But somehow she manages to be interesting and funny and resides even now in my top five all-time favourite SW characters list, but I just can't work out why. I guess mostly it's because she has to fight constantly in-universe, and her equal-opportunity sarcasm-and-insults policy. Doesn't matter which side your on, or how powerful you are... Ventress has a put down just for you.

She appeared in the comics as well, so...technically she was made up for the Clone Wars multimedia project. She's not accused of being a creator's pet because she really couldn't be; she appeared in books, comics, and two TV series under several different creators. Plus we never got the sense that the other characters are saying "Look at how awesome/wise/etc Ventress is."

I came to like her because she is a badass with an interesting background and a great sense of humor. I can't speak for anymore her other fans though.

I like her because she isn't much of a talker, offers cookies, AND NEVER DIED OR WENT NEAR QUINLAN VOS. And her actions indirectly lead to Lawless.

Regarding that moment in Bounty, if she would have let Pluma go back to her people without forcing them to pay up first for the girl's release, would that have betrayed her character or would it have worked (at least considering the circumstances)? I've found myself wondering that a couple of times.

Up to that point she really had no character aside from she was a coldblooded and ruthless murderess villain whenever she appeared on the show whose main job was making the heroes look good and heroic in thwarting and defeating her. They seemed to have infused character into her with a personal code of honor despite it was clear she was now an unconventional villain, and more an anti-villain going towards anti-hero. I don't think it would've worked if they started just making her do all these nice and heroic things with no strings attached too early on and too soon. The more time she spent away from Dooku, the more lightsided she got, which implies his influence on her was that mainly turned her evil and Dooku himself must've been naturally evil probably even before he turned Sith Lord, perhap the Jedi just never saw it or refused to. There does not seem to be anything redeemable about Dooku, not even in DD, which really did make him the perfect ally to Sidious like Tarkin.
