I always thought Chappie was underrated. It was kind of like a modern Short Circuit.

I'm a huge fan of Little Women, the book, but I don't think I've ever seen any of the film adaptations, of which there have been a couple pretty high profile ones. So I'm tempted to watch this new trailer because, I mean, it's not like there will be spoilers since I've read the book. But I'm pretty well definitely going to see this one. It's got a great cast and I'm all in on Gerwig as a director at the moment.

EDIT: Okay, I went ahead and watched the trailer. That looks amazing. Ronan, Pugh & Chalamet are three of the best actors under twenty-six right now, so all three of them in one movie is kind of incredible.

Florence Pugh has such an impressive lineup lately I'm considering finally watching The Outlaw King. I mean, I'm considering it, not actually watching it.

I'm thinking she is probably primed to be the new Black Widow in the MCU for the next 10 years as well, that's her startup movie.

Huh. I kind of want that to happen and I kind of don't. I feel like the MCU really kind of eats up your time as an actor. I was going to use Johansson as an example as she hasn't done a non-voice acting role except for Black Widow since 2017. June 2017, actually, so it's been over two years since she's done anything but Black Widow in a live action movie.

But upon researching, I see she's got two movies in the can ready for release later this year and they both look interesting. One's a Baumbach movie and the other one's Jojo Rabbit, a movie I am steadfastly refusing to know anything about so I can be totally flabbergasted about it when I go see it. So, what do I know? I guess you can find the time to do other stuff. Ignore me.

I felt like the trailer pretty much gave away all the major plot points and where the film's story pivots into the second act.

That being said, it was interesting to see Emilia Clarke in this type of role as I've only seen her act outside Game of Thrones in that terrible Terminator flick. I'm glad to see that Henry Golding is getting another leading role. I doubt that I'll see this movie during its theatrical run, but I will most likely catch it once it available for home viewing.

I mean, it's not that big of a surprise. He's probably one of the biggest weeaboos in Hollywood. That's why Kill Bill had a whole segment animated by Production I.G.

Miramax offering the job to Tarantino is no weirder than the time he was in The Muppets.

I think that may be a special case, though, as she was essentially filming two Avengers back-to-back in 2017. She filmed 1-2 live action projects on average between her other MCU appearances prior to that.

Yeah, good point. Last two years would have kept all of the major players busier than usual with the MCU. And we probably won't get another back-to-back situation like that for years, if we ever do.

Yeah, I wouldn't bank on an ultimate team-up for 8-10 years (since Phase 4 is shorter than usual).

In addition to that she backed out of a project last year (Rub and Tug) due to the backlash against her playing a transgender role, not because she couldn't fit it into her schedule.

Just a note that if you're in the UK, are planning on seeing IT 2 and have a Vue Cinema near you. Check the 'Coming Soon' section on their website. My local Vue is doing a back-to-back showing of both IT and IT 2 in early September. They are also having a screening of IT before the sequel comes out.

To those going, be prepared for a long slog. I heard IT 2 is almost 3 hours long.

Yeah, the combined showing is over 5 hours. I think it starts at around 6PM. I don't know if that includes an intermission.

Spider-Man out of the MCU as Disney and Sony fail to come to terms on new deal.

I was talking with my buddy and my mind was totally blanking on movies besides IT Chapter 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that I planned on seeing in the theaters in 2019. I refreshed my memory and I'll probably see:
    • Joker
    • Zombieland 2: Double Tap
    • Terminator: Dark Fate
    • Frozen 2
Interested so may go to the theater, but most likely will rent/stream:
    • Rambo: Last Blood
    • Ad Astra
    • The Addams Family
    • Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
    • Jumanji: The Next Level
How about everyone else? What's the rest of your year look like?

I'd forgotten the Jay and Silent Bob reboot was coming out so soon! I'll look forward to that as a rental, for sure.

If the reviews are decent, I might check out the new Downton Abbey flick that comes out next month. Otherwise, the only films I'm planning to see in theaters for the rest of the year are Zombieland 2, Terminator: DF, Frozen II, Knives Out, Little Women, and SW:TROS.

I'd see Ed Asner, Midway and 2017 in addition to TROS.
