ST Babu Frik in Episode IX

Loved this - fantastic! Very cool new character.

 

Babu Frik was one of the clear highlights for me. Such unbridled joie de vivre. I wouldn't mind a D+ spinoff about him and the rest of the crew, including Zorii Bliss.

 

Just got out of the film. What a fantastic character. Much funnier than D-O.

 

Babu Frik, rebuild old battle droids, give us a droid revalution.

 

Best character in the entire trilogy.

 

I loved him. It was a great little bit of classic Star Wars humour. And I loved how 3P0 said he was one of his oldest fiends! LOL

 

Of course you loved Babu Frik, he is one of the oldest friends of C-3PO.

 

I mean I’d be ok if they retconned the entire Saga from Babu Frik’s point of view

He was a pleasant surprise.

 

Zorii Bliss/Babu Frik series on Disney+ is absolutely something I want to see happen.

Pick up right where TROS left off...Introduce some more characters from Kjimi...Maybe Dominic Monaghan, Billie Lourd and Kelly Marie Tran's characters could reprise their parts in supporting roles if they need Rebels/Republic people in it....

 

Rumors has it that Babu was supposed to be cut out from the film because they feared that he would become next Jar Jar! What the Frik?!!!

 

Rumours like that tend to be garbage, no reason to believe there is any truth to that. Right now there are plenty of clickbait sites or people who seek attention who just throw stuff at the wall in the hope that someone reacts to them.

The whole part of the story doesn't work if he's not there, it would basically require overhauling the story and reshooting lots of stuff. Not to mention that his role wasn't remotely similar to that of Jar Jar, which makes it even less likely that anyone thought that such a reaction could happen.

 

"Droid memory go black. Black black." is my favourite line in the movie.

I will admit the first time I saw TROS I thought Babu was suddenly crying in anguish when Threepio flopped down but now he's totally, and incongruously going, "Hayyy! Look what I did, it worked!"

Babu Frik's random pop up in Zuri's fighter at the end does make me think that it was a last second toss in, though, cuz Poe doesn't even acknowledge Babu instead goes "Zuri!!" when if you saw Babu Frik pop up alive, you'd scream Babu Frik.

 

Admiral Raddus: Call up Babu Frik. I have an idea.

I think the Academy is mistaken. Babu Frik is obviously the lead of the film.

How is that scene "extended?" It seems to be exactly what we saw on the big screen.

 

The only way Babu Frik would have better is if he had been holo-calling Orrimaarko when he was intoduced.

It's already strange enough that his voice was provided by Shirley Henderson that played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter.

Chew and Babu Frik are very similar - and C3PO has seen things most people wouldn't believe.
By the way (I've posted this a couple times), I wonder if Ben Solo being rebooted ('have the protocol's mind wiped') was left open as a possibility. Some kind of reincarnation through memory. Maybe him being already around, somewhere, at the end of TROS, was discussed;and those ideas are compatible with Baby Yoda for all we know.

 

That might have been part of the inspiration.
