Saga Battle Orders

Time period: the Clone Wars
Characters: Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala

Summary: This is something I wrote up in about fifteen minutes just because I was in a mood. All AOTC dialogue and characters belong to Lucas.



Alone in her apartment, Padme logged onto the secure military channel and checked the battle statistics anxiously.

Kothlis: 230 Republic deaths, 200 of them clones

Second Battle of Geonosis: 128 Republic deaths, 110 of them clones

Felucia: 85 Republic deaths, 81 of them clones…


“Ani? My goodness you’ve grown.”

His smile warmed her. “So have you…grown more beautiful I mean…and shorter…for a Senator I mean.”

That smile was not supposed to make her feel the way it did. He’s a Jedi, Padme, she reminded herself. A Jedi. This will not work.

“Oh, Ani,” she said, returning the smile. “You will always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine.”

Yes, she thought. Just keep telling yourself that.



Where was he now? Would she be able to access his current location, at least within the past few days? Her fingers shook as she scrolled through the most recent battle locations.

Jedi General Anakin Skywalker was leading ground troops near Cato Neimoidia, one planetary rotation earlier.

Padme’s sigh of relief was audible.



She had not laughed so heartily in a very long time. Even the waterfalls behind her and the grazing shaak nearby seemed to join in the laughter.

“You’re making fun of me!”

“Oh no, I’d be much too frightened to tease a Senator.”

Padme didn’t know how many pieces of fruit she threw at Anakin, enough that he was finally unable to juggle them all. They landed on his head and splattered.

He taunted a shaak, leading it to chase him; he climbed on its back and rode it across the meadow.

Padme wiped away tears of laughter and struggled to catch her breath. The shaak bucked, throwing Anakin to the ground, seemingly unconscious…

Padme’s heart seemed to stop for a few terrifying seconds before she saw Anakin’s stupid grin. She mumbled “Why you little…” and swung at him, a strike he blocked with one forearm. But they both laughed.

Oh, Anakin…only you can frighten me that badly and make me feel that wonderful at the same time…



Cato Neimoidia was not too far away, near the Inner Rim. Padme could only hope that Anakin’s next mission would bring him closer inward, towards the Core. But so much fighting had happened on the Outer Rim lately that she knew it was more likely that he would be sent out again.

Sighing, she went to the section of the site that allowed members of the government to send messages to members of the military and typed three short words.

I miss you.


She didn’t sign her name. He would know who it was from.
