Wonder if there might be some clues about Baylan in the character of Kreia in Knights of the Old Republic 2. Stopping the endless cycle of light and dark was her goal as well. And it's a decent bet that Filoni was thinking about KotOR 2 when he wrote this show given he named the intergalactic ship after Darth Sion.

They can create new galaxies, new universes.

That's how "god" did it. With a giant fart.

Baylan Skoll knows about Luke, Leia and Ben. If he survives first season, will he go after them later? Filoni dosent just throw those names out there.

Why would he not know about Luke, Leia and Han? These were renowned heroes of the galactic civil war, and now prominent leaders in the NR.

Hey, let's not forget Baylan's line to Ahsoka about his motives: "One must destroy in order to create."

So clearly he wants to return to the "beginning" in order to destroy that endless cycle of light and dark.

We shouldn't ignore that his name suggests Armageddon. The only question I have at this point is what specifically does he plan to destroy?

The Force? Something earlier in the timeline, like the Jedi?

But he doesn't just want to destroy everything, he also desires to create.

He wants to create reality again, it seems, by destroying it.

Baylan’s comments in episode 6 did remind me a lot of Kreia from KOTOR 2. But that game’s overall philosophical standpoint is very divergent from that of Lucas, so I don’t think Filoni would bring something like that into his story. Kreia’s ultimate goal was to destroy the Force, to end its control over the destinies of mortals. Baylan may want something similar, but rather than destroy the Force (an idea that doesn’t fit well with Lucas’s philosophical outlook), he may instead be trying to sever the ability of mortals to wield the Force.

This fits somewhat with his mythological counterpart’s role in pursuing the sun (the light) with the intent of eating it. So he and Hati together can be seen as a force trying to end the light and the dark. But this may just mean to sever the connection that exists. I don’t know what that says about the actual power that’s calling to him, whether it’s a being or some kind of technology or a place, or how this goal would be achieved. If it even can be achieved. Perhaps he ends up trying and realizing it’s not possible, and his futile journey is a message about the inextricable bond of living things with the Force.

Ray Stevenson nailed Baylan's portrayal, amazing performance, I hope to see a fitting closure for his character this season.

And maybe more of Baylan as a Jedi Knight in Tales of the Jedi or something, sometime in the future.

It seems to me Baylan is not that radical as Kreia, since he blames Ahsoka's lineage for death and destruction, most likely including destruction of the Order. So at least he does not view people as just puppets of the Force.

If Baylan really is the mandoverse equivalent of jorus then there’s no way his arc was only intended to last this season.

This latest episode was called Dreams and Madness.

They seem to be suggesting a possible descent for Baylan.

Also, for anyone paying attention to the leaks

We've heard someone won't be returning to the GFFA, and after this episode, it seems to me that Baylan is the one who won't be returning.

At least until the movie or season 2. Baylan will return in some new mad form, and they'll have to recast him.

Maybe he's the mad jedi substitute and there actually isn't anything on Peridea? He's just started loosing it ever since his life fell apart

In my understanding the fates of Baylan and Ahsoka are intertwined somehow. My guess is that in the final episode Ahsoka has to sacrifice her return to the known to us galaxy and has to stay with Baylan. Would be a bit Ezra/Thrawn 2.0, but depending on what Baylan is seeking for this could play out very differently. I don't know why but since this show started I have the feeling that Ahsoka will not make it back from Peridea.

I have no idea where this Baylan story is going but I do think that it's safe to say that he will choose to remain on Peridea when Thrawn and the other baddies leave.

Also, if this season ends and were all asking ourselves, "what was Baylan's big plan??!?!" the show will have screwed up.

I think the season cliffhanger will be what he seeks, could be something we discuss and speculate for years

What if Luke Skywalker is on Peridea and it is revealed that Baylan Skoll has been in contact with him since many years ago, both of them working in the shadows to finally put an end to the Jedi? Won't that be amazing?

Why would Luke be in his End the Jedi era now? He's just started building his school, and is about to take on Ben as his 'first student'. It's only after Ben falls that Luke goes all "the Jedi have to end".

I also don't get the feeling that Baylan likes Anakin, and wouldn't like his son all that much either. Nor do i think the Mother's would be scared about Luke Skywalker being there.
