If you have the most recent action figure, it is also very accurate and shows the shirt under the tunic quite well.

my costume is a black karate gi with a top that goes three quarters of the way down my thighs, then i made some dark blue tabbards that extend just past my gi top, then i took a gun belt, and put a one inch belt around it and used camera pouches for my jedi pouches, then i made my special d ring system, i have gloves too but they're not long gloves like normal jedi they just cover the hands dso i dont wear em a lot i still need boots tho

My Jedi costume is also all black. It?s based on an Anakin costume, except it?s all black and sleeveless. I guess it?s technically a ?Dark Jedi? costume.

I think that the characters that walk the line between light and dark are more interesting than the ones that are all good like Yoda or all bad like Sidious and Maul.

I haven?t tried to join any of the Jedi groups so I don?t know how strict their guidelines are. I?m not surprised that they did not let you in. Geeks are often sticklers for the rules. I know I am. Why not join a Sith or Dark Side group?

Could someone post the concept Anakin pic from the Art of Episode III book which I made reference to in my earlier post? I've scoured the net and came up with nothing.

I know the costuming group Rebel Legion is in a process of tightening their (our) requirements. You are allowed to enter with a black Jedi costume, but it will not be considered "formal/canon" (allowed at certain official events) unless it is a very good rendition of Luke Skywalker's costume. That is because Luke's costume is the only one in the saga that is black. Every other Jedi costume/garment that may look black has been confirmed to not be really black - just a dark shade.

I was rather under the impression that black Jedi robes were going to be acceptable under the OT/New Republic flag. The "black Jedi costumes" thread seemed to indicate that, anyway.

Yes, a black Jedi costume is still "formal" under Rebel Legion rules.

The only discussion where it must be brown (and even then its still a discussion and not set in stone) is that Prequel era costumes should be in browns since thats what is seen in the films.

My problem with my mainly black Jedi costume is people mistake me for a bad guy, and well I don't bother to correct them. I used to, but now I don't. Leave them to their misconceptions!

well thats why i have the blue tabards to go with it, to try and convey i'm a good guy, most people have identified me as a jedi, especially standing next to my friend who is all black, with a black vest, and short sleeves and glvoes, very sith in my oppinoin

My black Jedi costume is unusual so there really is not a place for it..it was ment as a dark jedi, more feminine, with a corset piece to make it girly. So I am stuck- I can't be inthe 501st, there is not catagory there. I can't put it in my RL file, because it is black/dark. Oh well!

Umm, show me exactly where is it says black Jedi costumes are not allowed in the Rebel Legion?

My costume is all black (well white inner tunic) and I'm a member.

well, I asked around, and since it is a non- traditional looking costume with the corset there is no catagory to put it in. Traditional jedi are more modest, I guess- unless they are twi'lek! :)

Well since you are in Nashville. Talk to JediToren!

But I bet it can still be accepted as an informal Jedi costume, provided it can be shown to conceivably fit in the Star Wars universe.

The Jabba's Palace Luke figure. The one that you can pose the hands in a folded pose, and has bending knees. It also comes with a cloth cloak. It is the most recent Luke figure released.

I have frozen, and examined the stills, and due to the belt it is hard to deduce conclusively that this is a body suit. However,I personally have not disproven your theory either. If it is indeed a one piece, then finding a replica would be even tougher.

Personally, I think all this about not being allowed into certain groups because of the color of your robes is a bunch of hooey. Jedi are people too and shouldn't be color coded. [face_thinking]
Certainly, common sense should come into play here and allow people to dress as they wish in order to properly reflect who they are as a character. I can see them getting all bent out of shape if I wanted to dress as Qui-Gon Jinn, but with a "beater" tank top and a pair of yellow rain boots. That's not what Qui-Gon looked like! Okay, fine. However, if someone fancies themselves a Jedi that just couldn't make it to the battle of Geonosis in time to be on screen and they happen to dress in dark or black clothing, they should be allowed to. Personally, I have a Jedi costume that consists of a cream colored tunic, brown denim tabbards and a medium green cloak (the pants, I usually alternate between brown and beige). I have been called Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and even "Dark Vader"
(I think people just see someone wearing/wielding a lightsaber and the shiney makes brainy go bye-bye=P~ ). My point is, nine times out of ten, you're probably gonna end up explaining who you are anyway... you may as well make it to your tastes as you're the one making it and you're the one that's gonna be wearing it!!!

And if the Powers That Be at the local costuming group still say no, remind them that "Only a Sith deals in absolutes!"

    Believe me... I know.

Luke's outfit in ROTJ...whenever I watch ROTJ now (like 2 days ago, :)) it just totally reminds me of that season in Star Trek: TNG when Picard was wearing that casual uniform that I've affectionately dubbed the "J.L Picard summer line for the explorer who's had a long day." With that flap hanging down...anyone know what I am talking about?;)

I don't see anything wrong with black persay, except that when Anakin went to the real dark outfit in ROTS, alot of it had to do with symbolizing the dark path he was heading down, and it soon became his outfit as a sith, Darth Vader.

When Luke wore the black "J.L. Picard" suit in ROTJ it was also meant to symbolize the dark path that we were to believe was a possible future for him.... he chose the quick and easy path ("as Vader did") when he rushed off to face Vader in Empire, etc, was told it was his destiny to join Vader (albeit by Vader, but still) and when he goes to Jabba's palace in ROTJ, he gives a very Sith/Vader inspired choke to the 2 Gamorian guards (if I remeber correctly from when I was a kid, that was what they were called)... very un-Jedi like if you ask me...he pulls all kinds of less-than -Jedi flexes in that movie if you ask me, all building up to the final battle where the Emperor's desire is to have Luke take his father's place... all that was made a little more tense by the black outfit, I think... I know when I first saw Luke in the black, I was thinking, WTH, is he joining Vader now, just like that... and although we all had to know Luke wasn't going to join the Emperor, it was a little tense there for a while, especially when Darth brought up Luke's sister, and Luke unleashed his anger and went totally frigo' nuts... "a Jedi uses the force for knowledge and events...never for attack." So though I think a black jedi outfit is OK.... I think it automatically hints at darker leanings... I mean, Dooku/Tyrannus would look like a bad guy regardless of the colour of his lightsaber....Just my opinion, God knows I'm not the one to tell others what they should be doing... Good luck!

I've made myself an outer Jedi robe of black flannel-like cotton and it looks awesome. I've decided to make a medium length outer tunic out of brown linen and a long undertunic of black cotton broadcloth, with tabards of black pleather.

I figure there's lots of reasons for a Jedi to wear black and other dark colours, it doesn't always mean darkside leanings. In some environments a Jedi might be called to serve in, light colours might be impractical. Would you want to wander a swampy planet in white robes? Yuck!
Also, dark colours might be good for stealth, or might have special connotations to a Jedi of a certain culture.
