Congratulations on becoming a host in Census and Games!

Being promoted to game host status is a big responsibility, but we trust you?re up to the job. You?ve shown dedication and heart, and we know you?ll do your best to make the game you?re running as good as it can be. That?s why we promoted you.

However, with great power comes great responsibility, and since you have both a job (running your game) and a perk (increased JC status), there are some things you should be aware of both before you accept the position and while you retain it in addition to the VIP Code of Conduct, which you are required to read before your promotion.

    Participation is vital

One of the biggest things that makes people lose interest in a game is lack of participation on your part. Most games can?t go very long without posts from the host. When you take on a game, you need to be online pretty much every day, helping it along and making it fun.

We understand DRL ? vacations or computer crashes or sanity breaks, or just not being able to log on one day. That?s fine. If you?re gone for an extended period of time, especially in the middle of a game, please contact us so we can help, or at least so we know what?s going on.

However, being on the JC and posting but not maintaining your game is frowned upon. Your game doesn?t have to be your first stop when you log on, but if you do log on and post elsewhere, there?s no excuse for not taking care of your game.

    VIPship is a privilege

As a C&G host, you?re given not only the responsibility of running a game, but also the increased JC status of VIPship. This status is given to a very small percentage of the people here, so getting it makes you one of a few.

It also, in addition to the bright red username and no more one-post-per-minute rule, makes you more visible to the community at large. Your actions can be seen as an example, particularly for newer users. Because you have an increased status, like mods, you also have increased accountability. We will hold your actions to a higher standard than we might otherwise. This means it?s even more important that you follow the TOS and the rules of the JC.

Please remember, hosts are to stick with plain red text (though you can add red text decoration if you wish) at all times, unless you win a game or otherwise earn colors. The status also lets you post every 15 seconds instead of one minute, and gives you the ability to post polls and threads in C&G. Remember that you are not allowed to post polls or threads here unless you have permission from us, and please do not abuse your lessened posting restrictions and spam.

    You are accountable to us

In the end, we, the C&G mods, make decisions about who is promoted to hostship and who retains that position. This is especially important because of the VIPship that goes along with the job. If you?re not doing your job properly and the game is suffering, we retain the right to demote you. This might also happen if you abuse your VIPship or get into trouble in C&G or another forum.

If you have to step down from hosting your game for whatever reason, please let us know as soon as you can. We welcome suggestions for your replacement, if you have any. We?ll take them into account with our own observations when discussing who we should promote. However, since there is VIPship involved, we ask that you come to us with your ideas, and let us contact potential hosts rather than doing so yourself.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate at any time to ask.

No - username colors :) You can post with whatever color text you want, but you have to keep your username red.

Right, same as always - you win, you get the colors, and then we'll bump you back to red when your time's up.
