Canada Canadian involvement in Star Wars

This is a thread to gather info on how Canadians are involved in the Star Wars universe, as in employees of Lucasfilms, writers of Star Wars literature, etc. As well as location shooting in Canada (Hoth?) and anything else significant to Canadian jedi such as us.

 

Unfortunately, I think the Hoth scenes were filmed in Sweden, not in Canada.. as for the involvement of canadians in Lucasfilm, I know that many people from little software companies in Montreal are now working for Lucasfilm, I also think they were mentionned in an edition of SW Previews....

I don't know any names offhand, but I know that quite a few ILM folks studied computer animation at Sheradin College here in Ontario.

 

and of course Softimage software is used either for modelling or animation..

LOL, preaching for your church! I got to agree, they are quite a good company in software development

 

Maria de Aragon, who played Greedo, is from Montreal. Don't ask why I'm here; I'm American. But ohmigosh, a few years ago, I was visiting my cousins in Montreal, who're also big SW fans, and this was in the winter, so I felt like we were on Hoth, plus they have this big fat crabby old neighbor who runs around in a white fur coat and was like a dead ringer for a wampa.

I saw a statistic somewhere that over 50% at ILM are former Canadians. About 80% were from Sheradin.

 

I mentionned Softimage, but to be fair, I should also mention Alias/Maya done in Toronto.. (shooooooooo!)

 

Yeah, how can you forget the next Sith of the Dark Side comes from Vancouver? My hometown baby! Home of the evilest Sith.

if you look at the bottom of all the Ep.1 posters, you'll notice that they are all made in Mississauga, Ontario.
