I loved this new picture of Han and Leia. And it's amazing that Harrison and Carrie still have chemistry after 32 years.

I'm planing to go to my third viewing tomorrow.

You know....Senator Palpatine used to tell Anakin "May the Force be with you" prior to his emergence as the Sith lord. Just saying...

For those Han/Leia fans who didn't like what happened with them in TFA, I read on the Han Leia fanfic blog site that they're still together in Bloodlines which is 6 years before TFA, so the estrangement is not as long as we originally thought.

Some people on the blog were worried that the EU will try to pair Leia up with someone else during the period they're separated, given their history with Leia/Isolder, Leia/Xizor etc. Do you think they'd do that? I hope not!

Not a chance. The novel New Republic: Bloodline is supposed to follow Han Solo & Leia Organa and take place no more than six years before TFA; I'm sure it will also talk about Ben and Luke as well, as the title is bloodline.

Between grieving the "loss" of her child(ren), her separation from Han, looking for her brother, leading the Resistance against the First Order, trying to make the New Republic come to it's senses and testing new hairdos, I doubt Leia would have time to find a new love.

After seeing the movie for a second time, I am left with a much more favourable opinion of Carrie Fisher. I think she did a great job!

I thought Fisher's performance was fine.... the only problem is you really do notice how f-ed her voice is now. Nothing she can do about it at this point though.... besides talking to T-pain :)

Some of the Han and Leia shippers are taking their grief over them not being together a little too far and need to let it go.

I agree, but the EU doesn't have a great history with this. Remember the horrible out of character COPL book where Leia meets Isolder and turns to jelly and totally forgets about Han?

Let's hope the new EU will do things better. I'm really interested in reading Bloodline.

I also don't think they separated right away. So if the Jedi massacre happened 6 years before TFA, they probably tried to make it work for a couple of years but Leia got wrapped up in the Resistance and Han started taking longer and longer missions and eventually just never came back. That would mean they were together 25 years or so after ROTJ and only apart for about 5. I'm getting tired of reading comments about how TFA proves they would never make it because they were too different and Han couldn't settle down when the Visual Dictionary has him "settling down" and being a family man for decades.

The first time I saw the movie I was excited with Leia. But after seeing it two more times I have picked up on how disappointing her role in TFA is and how little of an impact she makes. It's not that I'm angry about her not becoming a Force user...I'm not. That part's fine. It would make sense that perhaps she became afraid to start down that route and decided to stick to politics instead.

It's just that she came off as very weak, low-energy, and pointless to the story. General Leia Organa. But all she did was say a few lines and stand there. She needed to be a commanding, heroic, strong leader, and she didn't come anything close to that. I don't know who to fault. Perhaps she couldn't act well and so JJ chose not to give her a huge part.

Understandable and I respect your view but it did the opposite for me. With every viewing I have more opportunity to pick out faults.

I find it interesting that people say this about Carrie, but no one seems to say this about Mark who literally had 0 lines.

    Carrie can act just fine.

I didn't even think her part was that small; of course she's not going to be a main character - it's not really her story - but she's still playing a MAJOR role behind the scenes, which is very clear in the novelization. I have a feeling the film couldn't convey this in as much detail due to time limits and streamlining the script to focus more directly on Rey, Han, & Co. Leia doesn't even appear until halfway through the movie, and the Resistance base is not where the action is happening... It's the place where they're planning. So that's what Leia does.

I found her moments of leadership very compelling, along with the emotional moments about Han, Ben, and Luke. Was she an exact replica of the sarcastic, hard-assed Leia of 30 years ago? No, but that's okay. Because 30 years have gone by. A lot can change in 30 years. She's softened a bit, she's a little bit sadder. She's still Leia.

Carrie Fisher is an Emmy-nominated actress, who's receiving very positive reviews for her acting in TFA and in a British tv series. I doubt her acting is cause for concern.

Also, I believe Variety has reported that Mark and Carrie will receive a bigger salary for VIII and IX, because their characters will have major roles, probably similar to Han's in TFA.

One thing I really love about Carrie is you see both her mother Debbie Renolds and Eddie Fisher in her face. She has her mother's prettiness and her father smile and eyes. You can see when she sees Han that there's love there along with some teasing of old. I have a feeling that those three were really happy to be with each other and Peter on set. As for Leia, she has changed, and I think Carrie can completely understand both her view and Ben's view seeing as her parents split at one point and dealing with that. Although if the only five year thing is true regarding their split, then still she has a lot she can bring to this.

I'm sure that Luke will be there to help her, and I doubt that they're going to kill either of them. Luke is way to iconic to the series and Leia as the political aspect needs to be there. I'm sure we will see her playing a larger role coming up. Also I'm hoping for a moment sort of like in Thor 2 where Frigga confronted Loki, only with Leia and Ben and something of a meeting of the minds where Leia gets to Ben and maybe pulls him back more to the light. That emotional moment where Ben realizes what he did and both he and Leia mourn over Han together with a family hug. Really that would be one hell of a moment.

Also did anyone notice that Leia's hair sort of mirrors pademe's crown hair in TPM with the weird bit going down the middle?

Love that clip. You can really see just how much Han loves her in his body language and eyes.
