ST Carrie Fisher (Leia) in Episode VII (Sad News posted on Page 269)

40 POUNDS. Wow. Take That Carrie haters. But I hope she's fine, that's a lot of weight. She doesn't have to be as skinny as the original. This the problem with society. I'm all for Carrie getting healither but she shouldn't overdo it cause society wants her to look like she did 35 years ago. It's not fair. I love Carrie just how she is. But I'm very happy she lost that weight. Wonder how much Mark lost. Probably about 20-25 pounds.

I would have been fine if they appeared as is. I have no problem with old actors playing old people. I'm getting up there myself!

 

I agree 100%! But seeing Mark (and Carrie) look so fantastic is awesome!

 

40 lbs is an incredible amount for a woman of her height. Carrie was 93 lbs in ROTJ and at her highest she said was 180lbs. Since she wasn't even at her heaviest when she started losing weight for VII, Carrie could very well be as low as the 120s, even less.

Mark looks like he lost A LOT more than 20-25 pounds. He looks like he's lost at least 50.

Kudos to both of them. I've lost 130lbs myself, so I know the struggle.

 

If Carrie is back in L.A., then I guess that means she probably won't be doing any major lightsaber dueling.

 

What makes you say that?

Do you have the pre-production/production schedule in front of you?

 

They typically practice the duels prior to principal photography. With principal photography a week away, it doesn't look like she is rehearsing. She could still have a smaller exhibition of lightsaber skills, but anything big you'd expect her to be training.

Yes. Unless Leia gets a duel much later in filming that will allow training later in the shoot schedule.

But seeing as I'm actually hoping Leia does not get any kind of major saber duel, but rather exhibits her force power in other ways, I hope you are right.

Agreed. I also wouldn't mind them saving her duel for 8 or 9.

 

Ian McDiarmid had ZERO practice before facing off against SLJ in RotS, and Carrie may have included some sword training in her fitness regime over the last six months...

What if she's at this moment chosing Leia's lightsaber????

Well if rumors about Adam Driver's character are true, than it looks like Carrie will definitely have more to do in this picture than most people previously assumed.

Really? I'd love that plot line. I always expected the ST to include the possible darkside fall of one of the younger cast.

A child of Han and Leia being the one seduced to the darkside? That could be amazing to watch, and would give some potentially amazing material to Carrie and Harrison.

I really do want to see her with a lightsaber. It doesn't have to be a duel or anything, I just want her at some point to be holding a lit lightsaber.
