ST Carrie Fisher (Leia) in Episode VII (Sad News posted on Page 269)

Yeah, when I said "old married couple" i didn't actually mean in the grumpy grandma/grandpa sense. It's not like I'm looking for Han to nag Leia about taking her pills, and Leia becoming exasperated about Han not wearing his hearing aid again. But you know, when a couple is together for awhile, well, they tend to bicker a little. Maybe not ALL couples, but considering how those two were during their "courtship" I can only imagine the kinda banter they'd have nowadays. I think it could be a lot of fun.

 

You mean that wasn't everyone's childhood already?

In regards to the estranged thing, I'd say no. It'd be one thing if we got to see them be a happy couple. It's another to start off with them divorced.

Return of the Jedi: Finally get together.

Whatever this ones called: not together, starting it all over again.

It'd be a little boring from a narrative standpoint to cover the same ground as before. Maybe not as close, but they shouldn't be separated. Maybe the adventure of this trilogy will RE-ignite that old spark. I could see that. But they should at least still be together.

 

They pretty much had the same kind of banter in in the OT.

"Get away from me you old fool!"

Wow, she looks great. I love that she brought her dog too. And her hair is longer than it's been in years - I bet LFL told her to grow it out too.

I can't wait to see her in costume. I'll be interested to see how they decide to go about costuming her. Luke and Han seem a bit more straight-forward, costume-wise.

 

Well, this line from the article shows how messed up everyone's priorities are:

I'm also very curious about what kind of costumes she will wear. A lot probably depends on whether they make Leia a Princess/Queen, a politician, or a Jedi. Will Leia change costume every five minutes the way Natalie did in the PT? And the big question for me -- what about the hair? Will we see a return of the classic Leia double-bun? Or will she have a simple braid like we saw in ESB and ROTJ?

I'm also very curious what last name she will be using. I'll be shocked if she and Han aren't married, not because of anything on IMDB. but for storytelling reasons. So will she be known as Leia Solo? Leia could also go by Organa, or even Skywalker. Or she could even hyphenate. Leia Organa-Solo, Leia Skywalker-Solo...those are a bit of a mouthful, though.

It's not very progressive of me, but I do hope she goes by the name Leia Solo in the new trilogy. It just has a nice ring to it.

 

I tend to think she wouldn't incorporate Skywalker. She loved Bail Organa and as the last remaining member of that family and one of the survivors of Alderaan, I think she would be more inclined to keep that father's name than take Anakin's name. But I'm kind of hoping she just does with Solo too, if only because I would like the differentiation from the EU.

 

Agreed. The name Organa-Solo probably won't be used because they want to get away from the EU. But I also agree that as the last survivor of the House of Organa, she might want to keep Organa to honor her home planet and the father she loved. Leia has legitimate reasons for using any of the three names. It'll be interesting to see which way they go on this.

Carrie Fisher mostly mum on 'Star Wars' sequel

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Carrie Fisher is excited about her "Star Wars" return, even if she can't say much about it.

The 57-year-old actress said she would "get in trouble" for discussing "Star Wars: Episode VII."... Fisher said it's "trippy" to make a sequel 35 years later. Fisher's last Millennium Falcon voyage was 1983's "Return of the Jedi."

The original Princess Leia did reveal that she was asked to lose weight for her upcoming role, saying "they hired me minus 35 pounds."

Carrie looks great. The Daily Mail has an actual video interview there, along side her beautiful mother Debbie. Carrie does a lot of cheek sucking and lip puckering in pics these days, so it's hard to tell how much more Leia-like she really does look in the face. I'd recommend people actually watch the video to get a better idea of how she really looks these days, and is likely to resemble in the actual film.

 

In addition to Carrie, her mom looks amazing for an 82 year old! Rock on, Debbie Reynolds.

 

Leia's full name and titles will be: Leia Organa-Skywalker-Solo-Amidala, Princess of the Alderaanian Survivors, High Chancellor of the New Republic, Queen of Naboo and Council Ambassador of the New Jedi Order....
Guess I am having delusions of Grandeur...

 

She looks great! And her lips look to have settled down a bit, she looks more 'Leia'

 

I suspect she may end up using the surname Solo to sort of parallel how Padmé Naberrie took on the name Padmé Amidala as a royal name.
