So whom all is planning on joining us in Japan?

 

Well I managed to get the Tokyo trip I booked for September 2023 canceled and refunded, minus a $200 fee. I’m putting the rest of that money aside for when flights and hotels start to open up. At least on Expedia, that won’t be until April 2024 at the earliest.

 

I just got in line for the Celebration Store in Japan.

Well, I'm pretty sure I won't attend Japan
Too expensive for me to travel over there from Canada!
I think I'm better to start saving money for Celebration 2027! Wherever it's going to be!

 

For anyone attending DragonCon next week there is a panel presentation by the Silk Road Panel on Thursday night about traveling to Japan (tips/tricks/ect). The panel is scheduled to run 2.5 hours and is presented by 2 people who recently traveled to Japan.

 

I'm considering it. I have wanted to see Japan and this may be motivation enough. Already doing some research.

 

I had mentioned that there was going to be a presentation at DragonCon by a couple who travel to Japan and they had put together a presentation they did at the Con. There is a lot of good travel info here dealing with public transportation and other areas.

I asked the presenter if I could post a copy of this to some SW Celebration Japan groups and he was fine with that. He also has other presentation with travel to Japan that he will provide if you contact him. I believe his contact info is at the end of the presentation.

Thank you for this! I had no idea about the prescription information and will definitely need to look into that if I go.

 

I’ve seen some posts on the Celebration Facebook page that they won’t be shipping badges or merch prior to the event. Which means they’ll have to allow an adequate number of days for attendees to be able to pick them up with that many people having to do it.

The Japan announcement mentioned travel packages. I'm curious to see what those will entail.

 

It's definitely going to be a mess. And for those traveling, just one more thing to have to factor in and worry about upon arrival.

I have been so looking forward the last couple of weeks to buying a VIP ticket on the pre VIP sale that they are offering only to those that had VIP tickets at the last convention until I realized this morning that my VIP was for Anaheim and not London so I wasn't eligible.
Arrrrghhhhhh! I'll try for the waiting list if they have one but that's a long shot.

 

I absolutely loathe that they are doing this, and there really seems to be no good reason for it anyways. They're literally creating a class system in the con fanbase.

 

Not going to lie, if I had a leg up on purchasing a regular multi-day pass for the next Celebration by buying one for 2025, I wouldn't complain.

 

Yea I have absolutely no idea why they did a VIP presale for the most recent VIP badge holders. Honestly, my guess is this was implemented by somebody who wants to look like they know what they are doing by copying SDCC’s system of returning registration in some capacity.

I guess it remains to be seen if this will be implemented for the general badge sale. I doubt it would be for the next US Celebration. However, if there happens to be a US Celebration in 2026, then it’s possible for it to be implemented for the one after that in 2027.

Frankly, I’m surprised Disney hasn’t taken over Celebration already. If and when they do, they’ll do definitely provide perks like that for D23 members the way they do for their D23 Expo.
