The Wookie would have a translator, it's called a Bowcaster. A lightsaber would be a bad ass touch.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we can't allow the EU in the movies.
I'm sure this also has to do with us not being able to have nice things.

Tyvokka, Plo Koon's master and member of the Jedi Council was created after Lowbacca during the PT. I am sure the ban must have only been for the films rather than EU.

OMG, I just had the silliest image of a Wookiee trying to sound evil, like the Emperor, but we can't understand a freaking word he says!

He would have to be the real villians heavy.

I see a problem with having a main villian whom the audience can't understand.

Maybe he's had throat surgery granting him the ability to speak Basic?

I'm pretty sure TCW killed the Wookiee-Jedi ban, at the same time it killed the only-blue-and-green-sabers ban–later in the same season, there were Jedi with yellowish lightsabers. Maybe it was Lucas' way of letting go of his baby?

All time high. I am not saying that we need a Sith Wookie or Hutt Jedi, but the galaxy would certainly feel bigger and more diverse if some races would not neccessary be black or white. I could see a nice Hutt senator or a Neimodian Jedi, maybe even a domesticated Jawa or Tusken (not Hett)

How could a Hutt Jedi even fight? Imagine how insanely difficult it would be to get that done.

Well, actually if a Hutt were to devote himself to physical activity for his centuries-long lifespan he would an extremely formidable opponent. The thing about Hutts being fat and immobile is because that's basically considered a mark of success in their culture. If an anomalous Hutt were to actually train his body instead of being a standard representative of his species, the guy would basically be 5 tons of pure muscle. Hutts also have rather thick skin which makes them somewhat resistant to many attacks (not unkillable, but it would take a few blaster shots to penetrate it, I guess). Their skin is also oily and slippery, making them difficult to grapple and from what I remember they also have some regenerative capabilites so a lost limb wouldn't be a long term problem either. Plus there is the fact that they are naturally resistant to mind tricks and such... aaand it would take a huge amount of Force power to physically push a Hutt around.
Their Force resistance is a double edged sword - while it makes it more difficult for other Force users to affect Hutts, I'm guessing that's the same reason a Hutt Jedi would be very, very rare, if not impossible.

Now, writing all this down, I realized that it would actually be damn awesome if we saw a Hutt who is actually trained to the maximum of his physical potential. Something new and something very, very dangerous.

    Oh, that is CLASSIC! [face_laugh]

Well done, good sir or madame!

BTW-- on the question of whether or not a wookiee was a Jedi in the EU it may be irrelevent since most EU will be destroyed.
