To Ben she is a genetic fifth cousin, far enough(3rd cousins is where society draws the line), but still is a little gross, I guess you need a sick mind to look for those things. And no I'm not a lurker, I just found this fic.

In some cultures families lines are only carried by males so it would be disgusting to marry your father's brother's offspring but fine to marry your mother's kin...there are some confusing things like that but every known culture has some kind of incest taboo. The things you learn in anthropology class...

If they don't know it might be weird but not sick (as in they aren't sick).

Shi?ar tossed and turned in her bed.

Nightmares had plagued her the first few hours of the night, her baby sister visiting in her dreams, and now it was nearly daybreak.

She gave up on sleeping, and threw the covers off of her legs, untwisting the sheets from around her body.

She slipped into her large Jedi robe, as she usually slept in somewhat revealing nightwear.

Just in case Ben woke up and came looking for her. She felt the happiness that he was hers, the high of knowing that she had been wrong.

Silently she padded out of her room, up several stairways, and onto the top of the stone Temple.

The huge gas planet was just peeking over the edge of the horizon. Shi?ar caught her breath. She had heard that the sunrise-showers on Yavin IV were beautiful, but this was beyond words.

A gentle breeze stirred her hair, and she pulled the robe closer to her body, keeping the cool, morning air away from her skin.

Shi?ar closed her eyes and let the morning sounds surround her, joining the animals and plants as they awoke and started their day.

Slowly, she sunk into the lower regions of her mind, stripping away all conscious thought, abandoning herself into the Force, feeling everything on the entire planet, down to the last atom.

And slowly she felt at peace.

Hi everybody. I'm here with a message from Mystralgurl - we interact on another thread we're both fans of - to let you all know why this suddenly isn't updating (though it seems some of you may know her well enough to know this already...). Her computer crashed a few days ago, and it'll be a month or so before she can get online again on any kind of regular basis. So she hasn't abandoned you, and I'm sure she'll be back just as quickly as she can.

thank you to all my readers for being so patient! I don't know how much I'm going to be able to post, all I have right now is what I had written before Thanksgiving, which does not include the following: Generations, and A Soul's Journey.

Ben slowly woke up, feeling tremendous waves of the Force rippling over him.

Was that Shi?ar?

He shook his head. ?Whoa! I never knew she was that strong in the Force ?.?

Ben stood, putting on his robes absently, then went in search of Shi?ar.

They had to leave before long, and they would both need time to pack.

?Come to think of it, it doesn?t take her very long at all.? He chuckled to himself, remembering when they had raced, before their mission. Besides, he wanted to make sure she was all right from the night before. She had been so angry at him and herself? so scared?

Ben made his way to the summit of the Temple, appreciating the cold stone under his hands as he tracing one of the carvings on the wall, feeling Shi?ar, basking in her feelings.

He stepped out onto the top, looking around for Shi?ar. He tried to still his fast-beating heart, hoping she wasn?t trying to kill herself again.

Ben spotted her near the edge and had to remember to breath as he stared at her.

Shi?ar?s red-gold hair shimmered, gently blowing behind her head. Her eyes were closed and her arms held her Jedi robes tight around her body, accentuating her figure. The sunrise-shower was almost over, but surrounded her, as if she were floating amid the sky.

It seemed to Ben, that if this were a holovid, that there should be some romantically stirring music in the background.

In fact, he could have sworn there was.

But that could just as well be his lovesick heart.

Silently he came up behind her, relishing the smell of her hair, whipping into his own face, as the wind grew stronger. Ben noticed that she clenched the robes tighter to herself.

He felt her relaxing in the gentle embrace of the Force, and again marveled at her extreme connection.

Slowly he let himself get sucked in as well, and their presence?s moved in a silent dance around each other?s making stunning patterns that held for moments, or years, he couldn?t tell, and then slowly faded away.

Ben brought himself back to Yavin IV, tugging Shi?ar along behind him.

Slowly, her blue-green eyes opened, and she turned her head ever-so-slightly to look at Ben.

He was standing right behind her, his body pressed against hers, her head just fitting under his chin, and his arms gently squeezing her waist.

//How does your back feel now?// Ben asked, unwilling to break their silence. Not that it would have mattered much, with the chatter of the jungle, but that was also part of the spell.

//It aches slightly, but not as much as before. I think it?s pretty much healed.//

//That?s good. You almost ready to leave?//

//Yes. I packed last night. I should probably get dressed though.//

She felt Ben blush slightly through their bond. //I didn?t realize that you weren?t.//

She smiled slightly. //I know. So I just had to say something. I like making innocent young men blush.//

Ben kissed her on the top of her head. //Go get dressed Padawan. I?ll pack. We?ll meet on the Jedi Defender//

Shi?ar nodded affirmative, then moved off to walk down the long stairs before anyone else woke and discovered her.

Ben watched Yavin for a few more moments, then started down the stairs after her.

Ben walked onto the Jedi Defender stretching to see where Shi?ar was.

Not surprisingly, she was already in the cockpit. And she seemed completely recovered from their?. misunderstanding.

Shi?ar turned when she felt him enter, throwing a wicked grin over her shoulder. //Glad you made it, old man.//

//Old man? Old man? If I am an old man, why did you kiss me?//

Shi?ar pulled her hair back, braiding it into a long, thick braid. //Because you?re good at kissing?// She hazarded.

//Well now. I didn?t know that.// He started the take-off procedure. //You know you?re the only girl I?ve ever kissed?//

Shi?ar paused in helping with the procedure. //Really? So she doesn?t count?

//No, she doesn?t, because she was kissing me. I had nothing to do with it.//

//That is weird?//

//Why? Because I?m such a good kisser?//

//No, silly Master. Because you?re the only boy I?ve ever kissed either.//

Ben glanced at her. //Seriously?//

They were out of the atmosphere and Shi?ar engaged the hyperdrive engines. //Seriously.//

//In that case, may I have another kiss?//

//Only if you answer one question.//

//Yes?//

//Does this mean we are seriously seeing each other?//

Ben turned to her, rubbing his nose again hers. //Only if you want to go out with an old man like me.//

//I have a thing for old men sometimes?// Shi?ar wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her soft lips against his.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, burying his hands in her long hair, removing it from its braid, focusing himself on her, feeling every slight movement of her legs, arms, lips, even her lashes.

Slowly, they both stood straight up, pressing their bodies against each other, Shi?ar standing on her tiptoes to reach his mouth, Ben leaning down.

Finally they broke the kiss, staring into each other?s eyes, reading the depths of each other?s minds.

//I love you, Padawan.//

//I love you, Master.//
