Next: Betty White and Abe Vigoda for Snickers

Since when is "You're playing like Betty White" an insult? You wish you played like Betty White (Peyton Manning).

    Vizio Memes

    Clip

"Outdated Chocolate Rain reference aside, this Vizio internet apps commercial was a mural of all the greatest things the internet has to offer, all crammed onto a TV. I can have zombies, David After the Dentist and Beyonce on the same thing I use to watch The Bachelor? Sold. Great pitch."

    The Intel Sad Robot

"I'm never buying a PC, but this sad little robot (an Eve rip-off from Wall-E, but still) wasn't groundbreaking creatively, but it was adorable. A great example of keeping it simple for the better."

    The Google Parisian Love Story

"A relationship between an English-speaking study abroad student and a sexy French person, from pickup line to marriage to baby, told through Google searches. Very touching, while effectively reinforcing that Google can do everything worth doing in life for us. It also pointed out how most people cannot spell anything, ever, at all, which was probably the most profound thing about it, actually."

    The commercial

    quite brilliant.

Really brilliant commercial. I thought it was by far the best of this weak crop. And the first Google commercial ever.

    Agreed, it's brilliant.

And the fact that it was produced so cheaply is a sign of its brilliance. No fancy FX, no celebrities pitching it, no outrageous sight gags. And yet it sticks in your head. =D=

That Google commercial was so simple. That's why it stuck in your head.

Out of the good ones, I can't believe no one chose the Doritos kid. I was at a SB party and it was one of the first ones to show. We were cheering the kid at the end.

    Doritos kid

Of course the best drool moment in the commercials was seeing Megan Fox in the tub. Begs the questions: What was Timmy doing in there? Even gay men fight over her?

I posted the Vader Volkwagen commercial on my Facebook page and it got tremendous reaction.

People that hadn't seen on the Superbowl loved it, and everyone else liked seeing it again.

I thought it was really creative and it reminded me a little of Rick Moranis and Spaceballs because of the way the kid looked.

I would LOVE to know what the Lucasfilm Licensing Department charged Volkswagen for the rights to have Vader in their commercial. AND to use the Imperial March music too! That probably wasn't cheap.

Speaking of the Imperial March...today is John Williams' 79th birthday!

I saw it and I loved it. I have a four year old son who dressed up like Vader for Halloween in 2010. He's always wearing his Vader costume still and walks around with a "Sith Lightsaber". He's constantly trying to use the force. It also struck a fine note of nostalgia for me when I was a kid...always trying to use the force....

It's interesting that Max Page, the six-year-old that plays Vader, has a bum heart and wears a pacemaker.

Doesn't stop him from making cute commercials, though.

My local CBS News channel had a bit with Max meeting James Earl Jones today (who gave him an autographed helmet). Kid is hilarious ("Imma sup-ah stahh! sup-ah stahh!").

Also turns out the kid was too young to have seen the SW movies- though he researched the basics online apparently.

Great commercial. Great acting job by the kid and all without using his facial expression or voice at all. It was all in the body language and a brilliant job.

Question: Is that David Duchovny doing the voice over for that dog food commercial? Sounds like him.

"My food promotes optimum stool quality. Now I'm not just a good pooper, but an optimum one."

If so, sic transit gloria mundi.
