Every scene with that corridor set was deleted, Vader communicating through the Force with Luke, Vader choking Jerjerrod and Vader taking Luke to the Emperor.

Maybe they just wanted to hide the fact that that corridor set looks incredibly cheap. It's the sort of thing that would look fine on a vintage TV set but not a full-size cinema screen.

it's usually more down to the lighting.

May be they felt it doesn't fit with the look of the first Death Star interiors?

Are these scenes lifted from ANH?

They don't fit with the corridor.

The first two pics look like they came from STAR WARS (1977).

The last one looks like the deleted scene, where Vader, in his meditation chamber, reaches out to Luke as he builds his new lightsaber. The shot of Vader in the meditation chamber appears to be borrowed from Empire's outtakes. I doubt the set was rebuilt for Jedi.

What mystifies me about the ROTJ deleted scene with Vader in his meditation chamber, recycled from ESB footage, is that it's step-printed: frames are repeated to give an uncanny dream-sequence effect, like in the cave on Dagobah. Was this a shot that was meant to be used as an alternate version of Vader reaching out to Luke in the finale of ESB, just before the Millennium Falcon goes to lightspeed?

Maybe? I don't know what they were aiming for there. It just looks weird.

It looks like the step-printing effect was in the leftover footage from ESB - maybe because they thought about having Vader in his pod when he calls to Luke in the ending, and were experimenting with using the effect in that case - and it got carried over to that ROTJ deleted scene because it was already baked in.

That whole ROTJ scene is basically cobbled together from stock footage and hasty reshoots anyways, as it wasn't in the original script. Its main purpose was to show the audience that Luke has built a new lightsaber, since Luke's new blade was originally blue. But that was hard to see against the desert in the sail barge scenes, so they changed it to a green blade in the final film. And with that, the hastily-constructed intro scene's purpose was gone, so it could get a thoroughly deserved boot.

(The green blade also symbolized Luke wavering between the light side and the dark side of the Force, since previously we'd only seen Jedi wielding blue and Sith wielding red. Of course the prequels making green and blue together the standard Jedi blade colors - and the only ones for some strange reason - rather ruined things.)

    Agreed.

It would’ve also ruined the surprise of the concealed lightsaber. And when the green blade was revealed, the audience knew instantly he’d replaced the one he’d lost on Cloud City - hence, no need for the ‘lightsaber construction’ scene.

It's got me baffled where this is from, I thought this is either the Echo Base hangar or Docking Bay 94 set but for the Y-Wing to the left. Home One hangar in ROTJ didn't use a 'physical' Falcon, could this be the deleted sandstorm scene from ROTJ?

I suspect so. I think the idea was that Leia flew to Tatooine in a Y-Wing.

That's right, you can just about make out the nose of the Y-Wing in the dust, it's a bit strange when you see the deleted lightsaber scene when there's only the Falcon and Luke's X-Wing.

No I think it's from ANH, as I understand it they built half a Falcon and changed the set around it , from Docking Bay 94 to DS to Yavin IV.

But they didn't have a Y-Wing on the Mos Eisley hangar set in SW 1977.

Why would they erect a Y-Wing on a sound stage where they didn't need it? I think it's far more likely that this is a picture from ROTJ.

Did they? Huh, interesting. Could it be from ESB and a very early stage of the Echo Base hangar set? Or did they have a full Falcon there as well?
