Senate College: Free Exchange of Ideas or Liberals Cancelling Chicken Sandwiches?

So this is a fun story that I'm sure isn't going to cause any arguments here! So, a black college student at Oberlin College allegedly shoplifted wine from a bakery. A female white store worker confronted him, and him and two others allegedly assaulted her. The three black students were arrested. That's when the college began protesting the bakery, calling it racist, claiming it had "a history of racial profiling and discriminatory treatment." The college officials itself had spurred these protests on. College tour-guides allegedly told prospective students the bakery was racist. However, they never had any actual evidence of the bakery being racist. Well, while sending a twitter mob against someone on the internet with shoddy information leaves you unscathed, when you do that in real life, you suffer legal consequences. And the bakery was awarded $44 million in damages from the college.

Moral of the story? Keep your extremely-online behavior online and out of the real world. And don't accuse people of racism without evidence.

Can we just lock this thread? The title is basically just a Fox News propaganda chyron, and the subject matter is a fake controversy ginned up by conservatives and not a real topic of debate.

Wow. Not good. This is the problem with just throwing overused terms and accusations around. It happens constantly. Alls it does is dumb it down and of course the BS accusations ruin it or make it harder for REAL situations to carry any weight. No one wins. Except the bakery. .

As for this issue of "indoctrination of the left": I'd liketo see what actually happens and how this plays out. Its fair to say that theres been plenty of "agenda-driven" things going on at colleges and universities. It'd be nice to have both sides or multiple sides presented without bias so students can actually decide for themselves. But then, that takes the "fun" out of it for the agenda-drivers.

This is some utter nonsense. There is not massive indoctrination going on in colleges and universities, and some of the ones that are most prominent in trying to indoctrinate would be universities like Liberty University, and yet the people on the right that say they're worried about indoctrination in universities rarely seem to bring ones like that up. Whining that it's not your own agenda people are being indoctrinated into is not calling for a reduction of "agenda-driven" things, and wanting your own made-up set of things to be taught is not an improvement to education. It's not even education at that point.

 

Considering that DeSantis mocked college by saying people are getting degrees in "zombie studies or whatever", he's absolutely trolling the people of Florida. Just more taxpayer dollars to support grifting operations like Trump University.

I mean your country has bible universities, so it's not fair to call university a leftist indoctrination camp.

 

I mean, this thread was just an extended troll by J-Rod, with his riff on JJ Jameson's "SPIDER-MAN, HERO OR MENACE?". Plus, 80% of the posts had almost nothing to do with universities. If we are genuinely going to talk about universities, can we at least start fresh instead of dragging the corpse of this thread from its grave?
