Whatever character Max is playing could conceivably recognize folks from the Clone War era...

I'm not sure if I'm more excited for Daisy and all the praise she's likely going to get or for the people who aren't familiar with her and don't yet realize what a treat they're in for.

For those of us who have managed to catch the performances of Daisy's on various TV shows and know what she's capable of, it's like knowing some really cool secret and anticipating the reaction everyone else will have once they find out about it.

Then there's this, which I love!

That progression doesn't really make any sense. Wouldn't it be dealing with more siblings? Meaning your adding more related characters as you go?

Singular, plural, group? Thus pertaining to the theme of family?

Actually, the progression makes perfect sense and has a nice symmetry to it. If you can't see that, well... [face_dunno]

Also that picture presents another nice little progression...Father to Son (Anakin and Luke in the first two trilogies), then Mother to Daughter (Leia and Daisy in the second and third trilogy) Assuming that Daisy is her daughter, of course ;)

Yeah, I kinda see that in that regard. But it kinda falls apart if she has a sibling.

You have a point. However, if she's the focus and the sibling doesn't do a lot and is more of a minor background character then it still works....kind of :p

What if she is Luke's and Leia's daughter? Those last 30 years were crazy.

It's not like Leia didn't do a lot or was a background character in the OT, but it was still about the protagonist and his father. As long as Daisy's the protagonist, I get the progression. Her brother could be a secondary lead (like Han & Leia in the OT) or a villain without disrupting the focus on her.

    Possibly big spoilers:

So, Han might be killed off in EP.7 http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/06/is-star-wars-episode-7-harrison-fords.html

Could be a slip of the tongue, or an accidental leak of info. Take it what you will.

Anyway, I think Daisy would be very good for dramatic and sad scenes, such as her father dying. If you watch her in Silent Witness, she is very, very good. In the 2-part episode, her best friend was killed. Overcome with guilt that thinking she put her friend in danger, Daisy's character off's herself. The emotion coming from the character was extremely palpable despite very little lines. It hit me as hard as seeing a fully-fleshed character in a movie die, but she was able to convey the same emotion to the viewer with just facial expressions, body language, and very little lines.

Translating that to Star Wars would probably be a knockout. Add her acting prowess with the death of an iconic character and you could potentially get an amazing performance.

One small correction from Silent Witness...
Actually, it was the Doctor's partner who killed Daisy's character.

Well there is not much difference between last and latest. When Harry Potter 5 was translated to my native hungarian the translator(one of the most accomplished ones) mixed up locket with lock. I wouldn't put much fait into this rumor. Of course Han might die, but I think this tongue slip is totally unrelated.

I personally think that it would be fun if for once the protagonist was motivated by something else than his/her loved ones dying. You know like Shmi and Padme for Anakin, Owen, Beru and Obi-Wan for Luke. I simply took up guitar lessons and body building to test my limits. Daisy could do the same

Princesses aren't allowed more than one living parent. It's a Disney thing. ;)

wow, how do you get all this from a few lines in the occasional t.v. drama, and a music video?

what are you like with fishes and loaves?

So Lucas knew star wars would get into Disney hands all along...well better than the...'nobody stays dead' comic book thing.

In all fairness, her performances in those TV dramas are way more than just a few lines... She also knocked said performances out of the park... especially in Silent Witness.

Also, most people have only seen Lupita Nyong'o in 12 Years a Slave(which she didn't have much screentime in), yet no one questions it when someone praises her and mentions what an amazing actress she is. Don't get me wrong, Lupita is awesome... But there is actually more out there to judge Daisy on than there is for Lupita.

Right... because the academy awards are the be-all end-all when it comes to measuring talent...

i get it, you're into daisy. i didn't manage to catch anything she did prior to the announcement she got the star wars gig, and i'm not that interested in going out of my way to do so. i'll take your word for it that its top draw stuff. maybe if i did i'd also be projecting all types of scenes she'll be in, who she'll be playing, and how much emotion she'll bring to the role. i'll reserve my judgement, and gushing praise for when i finally see her in E7

No worries mate... trust me though, gushing seems to be the most common reaction from people who have seen a good bit of what she's done. I was also skeptical until I checked it out for myself, but she really is that good.

There's a ton of far more established British acting talent that's never won Academy Awards.

    Agreed!

These days, the academy awards have basically become little more than a glorified popularity contest.
