Thanks [face_peace] I had this very weird mental image of a Sith creating black holes and sucking planets into them when I first heard of Nihilus eating or consuming planets [face_clown]

I tend to think he just uses a Force Storm and then Drains Life from those killed by it.

Makes much more sense that way.

Maybe he transforms into a giant energy cloud and sucks the planet up.

FYI, I'd like to see Darth Nihilus get a personality in Legacy of the Force. I'd like to see him become the Emperor Palpatine of the period. You know, a purely evil Sith Lord whom is actually extremely charismatic and capable of great acts of savage darkness.

Enough with the subtle, manipulative schemer. We need a ROTJ "Muhahahahahah you will join me and together we'll rule the galaxy!" type

    Oddly, I meant KOTOR.

Oh well. I guess everyone makes a typo now and then.

Much like the Secret Apprentice does, I must now exterminate the witnesses though.

    *ignites lightsaber*

    *lightsaber dies*

    Damn double A's.

*taps the lightsaber a few times*

    Okay, you got lucky!

    I figured as much.

though I almost thought perhaps you were hoping for parallels between Caedus and Nihilus, and it just didn't come out cohesively.

If want, we can conspire together to edit the evidence away...there's time.[face_whistling]

One of my first mental images was him eating bits and pieces of the ground with utensils.

    In his usual Sithly garb.

It was a stupid mental image.

My problems with Nihilus is that his history is gloomy. I'm just curious if people believe that he feigned death.

    Evidence of this:

    1. Nihilus's Holocron found by Darth Krayt

    2. The ship was still held together even after he was defeated in battle.

I think it's fairly clear that Nihilus constructed his holocron before KOTOR2. By the time of his death, I really doubt he cared enough about anything but sating his hunger to take the time, effort, and concentration to make one.

Why does he even have a holocron? Presumably Krayt would speak Sith at this point... no one can understand the guy, so why a holocron?

The way I understood it was

On Malachor 5 The entire army had been force bonded together by the exile (she didn?t realize this of course). So when the army was whipped out by the mass shadow generator even those not caught in the blast where killed by the force backlash due to the fact they where all bonded together.

Two individuals survived this, the exile survived by basically severing her own connection to the force & thus the bond. The individual who would become known as Darth Nihilus survived by basically feeding on the others within the bond, draining them of force to empower himself.

But now both beings are blackholes in the force, they draw the force to them & eventually it dies. The exile never truly regained her own connection to the force she was simply unknowingly leaching off the force sensitizes she came into contact with.

Darth Nihilus slowly leeches the force off his allies in the same way. But he is addicted to the enormous power he can briefly wield if he strips force sensitives of there powers completely which of course kills the person who gets stripped of the force because in Traya opinion they aren?t strong enough to live without the force. But the power Nihilus gains from these acts only result in him temporally becoming all powerful because as already mentioned the force eventual dies within him.

    So in the final confrontation

Darth Nihilus is basically starving when he?s confronted by the Exile, Marr & Mandalore. He tries to drain the force from the exile, but there is no force within the exile to strip because he like Nihilus is also a black hole in the force, which further weakens Nihilus. Then during the course of the duel the exile also succeeds in getting Marr to sever her own force bond with Nihilus, so now Nihilus has been cut off from the biggest source of force power that he was leeching so moments later Nihilus is cut down.

I assumed that Visas could. And it seems to me that Sion has to communicate with the guy at some point.

I assume all sorts of people can understand Nihilus. Just because we don't understand Chewbacca doesn't mean Han doesn't either.

One of the tassels in Betrayal apparently needed the use of Dark Side to be understandable; perhaps it is same with Nihilus' speech: If you are a Dark Side user, you can understand him. After all, he did have to somehow to be able to command his troops.

Didn't he command his troops the same way he held his ship together, through sheer force of will?

Of course, Visas could understand him. [face_thinking]

Which could be as much inserted "thoughts" into her mind as the gurgled murmur we hear. I'm not convinced she "understood" the language Nihilus was speaking...she simply understood Nihilus.

Perhaps it was Sith he was speaking...I tend to lean toward the thought that his language skills were failing him as his mind was lost to his hunger...but what he could do with increasing power was project his desire and will to others...with such clarity that he and they may assume it was perfect speech.

It pays credence to the dynamic power of the force used in expression and to the mind altering savagery faced by those lost completely to the darkside.

There's precedent in Kar Vastor, who spoke only in growls but made his meaning heard through the Force.

Because only the worthy are suppose to gain any knowledge from a Sith Holocron. So that being siad...it seems to me that Darth Nihilus condsidered one must learn the true Sith language before being worthy enough to excess the knowledge he may have put forth inside of it. Sometimes it takes months and/or years to learn eveything that is hidden within these things and its possible that all of Nihilus' Sith power teachings are detailed within. Or maybe its about how to turn a Togruta skull into a cool looking mask....lol ;) [face_thinking] :D
