I went to a water park for about two days last week. It was great fun. I'm a big fan of theme parks and rides in general. Can't get enough of them.

I definitely thought that it was expensive as well when I read it, and trust me, it is, but I did a quick price breakdown of current offerings at WDW that are comparable to what this article describes this SW hotel to be like, and unsurprisingly, it would actually be cheaper to experience this SW hotel than a mixture of what they currently have.

    Breakdown is as follows:

    Park Tickets: $275.84 (2 Day w/Park Hopper)

Dinner: $144 (Comparable to Hoop-de-Doo Revue 2 times @$72 per adult)
Breakfast: $54 (Comparable to Crystal Palace 2 times @$27 per adult)
Lunch: $35 (Comparable to 50’s Prime Time Cafe)

Resort: $934 (Comparable to Animal Kingdom Lodge average price @$467 per night)

    This totals to $1442.84

I chose existing options that are the most intensely themed and immersive environments. As you can see, while still expensive, this is not unrealistic given the brand name and the supposed level of interactivity and theming that will be found at the hotel. And, considering this would all be taking place at one resort that apparently is being planned to have park access, you will be paying a premium for that access and the ease of not having to go all over the property to experience this level of detail.

I believe the survey only indicated Walt Disney World, but I guess it could be possible that it could come to DL as well. The real issue will be room to expand in California. Either way, if this does happen, there is no way it opens until a couple years after the rest of the expansion in 2019. It hasn't even been confirmed yet.

I will be deff checking out the expansion when it opens, I hope they don't jack up prices for the expansion.

They have annual price increases (sometimes biannually!), so prices will be higher in 2019 than they are now, but I don't think there will be specific price increases for this particular expansion. There were no price increases specifically for Magic Kingdom when the Fantasyland expansion opened a few years ago (that I can remember aside from normal price hikes), so I doubt this will happen in 2019.

Disney runs surveys like this all the time, so don't get your hopes up. Years ago, I participated in a survey that ptiched a completely pirate-themed hotel. They had concept art, pricing, etc. What we GOT was a few pirate-themed rooms at the Carribean resort.

    But it would be AMAZING.

Agreed. Having worked at WDW and lived in central Florida for 5 years (plus all my immediate family still work at WDW), I have seen many surveys with concepts that never came to fruition. Many times, I think Imagineering (and the suits in the $ offices) put these things on surveys with the knowledge that it will leak out and they want to get a wide reaction.

I am not putting much stock in the reality of this happening. Too many letdowns through the years.

This would certainly help to explain the May 2019 release of EpIX.

VERY interesting. VII to IX only? Sure sounds like Disney has determined what the cash generating arm of the franchise will be going forward...
