Looks like this kinda flew under the radar, but sw.com had an official announcement of the script book with cover and dramatis personae.
DOCTOR CHELLI LONA APHRA: Rogue archaeologist. Weapons and droid expert extraordinaire. Our intrepid heroine.
DARTH VADER: Infamous Sith Lord. Man of few words. Our intrepid heroine’s terrifying boss.
TRIPLE-ZERO: Protocol droid. Favorite hobbies include translation, holo-chess, and draining organics of all their blood.
BEETEE: Blastomech droid. Has a flamethrower.
SANA STARROS: Smuggler. Unfortunate dreamboat. Working with the rebels for some godsforsaken reason.
    BLACK KRRSANTAN:
Disgraced Wookiee. Fearsome bounty hunter. Do not challenge him to a pit fight.
PADMÉ AMIDALA: The “good” former queen and senator of Naboo.
PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA: Rebel royalty. Has a mean left hook.
    LUKE SKYWALKER:
Yellow-haired rebel humanoid who is supposedly important for some reason?
HAN SOLO: Reformed scoundrel. Always claims to save the day. Actually useless.
CHEWBACCA: Han Solo’s very loud Wookiee sidekick. No match for Black Krrsantan.
    C-3PO: Simpering Triple-Zero doppelgänger.
    R2-D2: Foolhardy Beetee doppelgänger.
EMPEROR PALPATINE: Our intrepid heroine’s boss’s boss.
BOBA FETT: Bounty hunter. Inspires fear in the hearts of all (except for our intrepid heroine).
MAZ KANATA: Badass pirate queen. Incredibly sore loser.
KORIN APHRA: Our intrepid heroine’s father. Obsessed with excruciatingly boring Jedi stuff.
LONA APHRA: Our intrepid heroine’s mother. Obsessed with excruciatingly boring planets.
THE ANTE: Information broker. Sometimes useful. Not to be trusted.
IG-90: Bounty hunter. Overly pedantic assassin droid. Likes to shoot things.
BOSSK: Bounty hunter. Wookiee-killing machine. Does not understand the concept of jokes.
BEEBOX: Bounty hunter. Very short, but carries a big gun.
UTANI XANE: Curator of Quarantine World III. Loves bureaucracy and crushing dreams.
SAVA TOOB-NIX: Sava of the University of Bar’leth. Hates when his lectures are interrupted (especially by our intrepid heroine).
COMMODEX TAHN: Former mortician of Naboo. All-around bad liar.
ENEB RAY: Former rebel spy. Loves to monologue.
GEONOSIAN QUEEN: Really scary. No other descriptors necessary.
    Still the case fortunately.

I've never been that interested in audiobooks, but I've been needing some motivation to take more walks lately (working at the computer has made me lazy :p) , so I bought this today in an attempt to make walks more fun.
I ended up taking a two-hour walk while listening to the book today, and I'm already looking forward to the next one. So far I think it's a lot of fun, and it's been ages since I read the comics, so the story feels new and fresh.
Again, only a couple of hours in, but I'm enjoying it a lot. Will probably end up buying the Dooku one as well, because walking while listening to this opened up a whole new world for me. :D

Anyone have the book version of this yet? I have it on my next Amazon UK order list and am wondering how good it is. I don't really do audiobooks.

I rifled through it at the book store. Same caliber as the Jedi Lost script.

Just got the book from Amazon UK. It might pop to the top of my reading list as
    Boba Fett and Bossk
are listed in the Dramatis Personae.

Of course, they're both in the Vader comic upon which this is based.

I just saw this book at Target yesterday as I caught my eye so I figured I'd look for the thread on it. It seems this came out a few weeks ago. From what I gathered in this thread and via the StarWars.com article, it sounds like its a retelling of the Aphra's intro in the DV 2015 comics.

I started listening to the 3 minute audio clip available from the penguin random house link below. After 15 seconds I turned it off as my initial reaction was not favorable. I figured I'd give the full clip a shot and I found that it reminds me of Paget Brewster's take on Della Duck and not really what I expected Aphra to sound like.

Am I a horrible person if I said that Dr Aphra was interesting only in her relationship to Vader and outside of that she's kind of bleh, while the Torture droids as an inverse 3PO R2 got old long long ago ?

Of course not, and I somewhat agree on the latter point. I completely disagree with the Vader thing, though. Her sort of kinky death-wishy thing there never really made sense to me and I feel like she's become much more interesting doing other stuff with other characters.

Personally, I like Aphra so much more after listening to the audio drama. The actress wasn't the voice I had in my head for Aphra at all but it really grew on me and I think makes the character really endearing.

    Finally listening to this.

One thing the audio conveys very differently to the comics is the sheer unnerving atmosphere of having to quickly re-activate a droid matrix with an impatient Vader looking on.

This adapts a lot more material than I expected. It covers the entirety of Gillen's Vader run, the Vader Down crossover, the Rebel Jail arc Star Wars and Gillen's Aphra run pre-Screaming Citadel. That's a good chunk of content.

The running strand through the entire story is Aphra frequently over-estimating her own skills, having every plan blow up on her while either under-estimating or totally misreading everyone she encounters. This is particularly so where the Murderbots are concerned, and especially dangerous with regard to Vader, and even more so the Emperor.

Overall, the casting is pretty good. Vader is done well, as is the Emperor. Fett and Leia are OK, only Luke and more so Han sound off.

Next, The High Republic: Tempest Runner.

No, it ends basically at the same point Gillen's Vader ended, with Aphra surviving her ejection into space and looking forward to the next adventure. That first Doctor Aphra arc was about exploring the ruins on Yavin IV with her dad and discovering Eternal Rur.

Thanks, it has been a while. Still a major adaptation.

And once that really uses the audio medium well.

Indeed, that was the idea, retelling all of Gillen's Darth Vader from Aphra's perspective. Throwing in Rebel Jail and all the extra scenes was just icing on the cake.

In one moment he sounded like Peter Griffin, and that was strange, to say the least.
Very liked Trip's voice there, it was both gleeful and sinister.

I did not remember Rebel Jail arc very much while listening to this audiobook, and for me moment with Sana almost strangling Aphra to death was quite shocking. Because of it their reconcile in the current run still seems somewhat fake.

Caught up with the hardcover of the script today - pretty good. I hadn't read the comics of her and Vader but that didn't seem to matter.

It shouldn't matter at all - nice bonus if you have, as you can compare and contrast, but the script alone will lack the neat audio touches and the performance.

Yeah, I realize that. However audiobooks aren't really my thing. This sounded like it would have been a good one though.
